I'd say wait. The current facelifted one has flopped big time, and even though tried and tested, will seem old compared to the bigger D1 segment (in size) new Verna. Of course, prices will also jump, though.

If on a very tight budget or timeline, go for it now else wait.

In my opinion, go ahead with existing Verna as you will be getting decent deal ( you can add weight to deal sighting possible discontinuation in near future)
Looking at the possible feature additions and Hyundai's (over) confidence in pricing their recent products, you will have to shell out considerably higher sum.

New Verna spied again,

the taillamp design which seems to be a LED pattern running through the rear. Headlamps are placed quite low, almost on the bumper. Can spot the floating infotainment system in the middle. It seems to be a 10-inch Unit.

The bigger dimensions should translate into better second-row space and legroom.

Can Hyundai in this generation change the coupe design to a more proportionate design so as to have better headroom for the rear passengers?

I've seen this coupe design leading to headroom issues which was a deal-breaker for many potential buyers, in an otherwise, wonderful car.

Also, hoping that in this car (i.e. in all Hyundai cars!), the rear windows become smaller & smaller in design at the end. The issue is window lines become higher than the passenger's shoulder leading to decreased outside view/visibility & claustrophobic/darkened cabin. Passengers with short-height feel this while traveling.

Hyundai is gearing up to launch the next-generation Verna in India to take on the Honda City, Skoda Slavia and VW Virtus. The car is currently undergoing road trials in India.



The prototype of the next-generation Verna was recently spotted in Delhi-NCR. It appears to be the same test mule that was seen earlier.



The car is expected to get a low and wide grille with sharp LED headlamps on either side. It has a coupe-like roofline similar to the current model with a shark-fin antenna, while the rear features slim LED tail lights.



Besides the cosmetic changes, the new Verna is also expected to get new engines. The car is rumoured to have 1.5-litre petrol and diesel mild-hybrid engines, brake energy regeneration and idle start/stop features.

Everyone else has their own opinion but I don't think it is right for hyundai to change the design of their car after such a short period of time, since 2010 hyundai has launched many designs of Verna, but by doing this The value and prestige of the old customer's cars are lost or reduced, on the other hand volkswagen and skoda do great things, they don't change their car design very quickly. My army friend has a 2015 model Verna that has only done 3100 kms and is brand new, but the value of that vehicle is now around 4 lakhs because everyone says the design of your car is now outdated, today new Verna is in trending, and the frequent design change also makes it difficult to get spare parts like headlights, tail lights, grills, and other body parts.
It will be interesting to hear what the other members have to say about this.

The powertrain options in the Verna are currently the weakest links in the package (maybe apart from the lack of space), with all the engines, the 1.5 litre diesel and petrol as well as the 1.0 litre turbo petrol, offering lower performance than the previous 1.6 litre petrol and the monster of a 1.6 litre diesel. I hope this will be sorted out in this new generation.

I wonder how much the styling of Hyundai's larger sedans, the Sonata and Elantra will influence the Verna.

I know. If they keep going further, i wonder if the headlights would be placed in the fog light area at some point.
That would save costs of putting in a fog light as well, which already models like the Venue are doing away with.

Maybe it's the camouflage that's playing tricks on my eyes, but the wheelbase doesn't seem to have a proportionate increase compared to the length of the car. One of the issue with Verna was it's poor space, especially at the back and I wonder if this solves the issue. Competitors like City, Virtus etc are more spacious than ever now.
