Got word from Hyundai sales person that the ground clearance is 165 mm though it is not mentioned in the brochure

While I think this may be true in 1.5 Turbo's case with a huge price difference, I don't think it's that easy to conclude. Especially in the case of 1.0 TSI vs 1.5 NA of Verna. The price difference is not much with the TSI having substantially more Torque due to Turbo.
For eg., I want Ventilated seats, a good screen ( 10 incher only avail in SX (O)) and good instrument cluster (digital). The VAG twins got much much better instrument cluster I'd say. The price difference in case of SX (O) 1.5 NA and Virtus Topline is negligible. And like I mentioned, there would definitely be reasons to consider the Virtus/Slavia - Exteriors for sure!

But yes, the pricing is mind-boggling. It still makes me wonder how Hyundai were able to undercut the price of this feature loaded car when compared to the VAG twins (hope they haven't compromised on safety, AGAIN). Possibly the safety and dynamics of the German twins 'might' be better but I can't comment on it until and unless a proper full fedged review of Verna comes to our forum
According to Hyundai`s presentation - Verna DCT will clock 100 kmph in 8.1 Seconds.

i20 is also a 4+ meter car in the outside market, Polo is not the only vehicle that disappeared, there is Jazz, Micra and many others who claimed to be premium hatches.

Power train wise Hyundai had so far dumbed down the Verna due to Creta, however looks like its quite the opposite now, perhaps they will axe the lower variants of Creta and Seltos to make room for this.

From Autocar price checker I feel that Ciaz is a sane buy. With car prices going northwards I feel Ciaz is a sensible buy for those who look for comfort of a sedan.

The performance factor needs to be checked in Verna 1.5 NA case as well. Going through few videos the car does seem peppy.

The MID and the exteriors is a subjective affair. I feel the VW twins MID is too basic and minimalistic. I prefer needles if it is to be minimalistic.

They have gone overboard with features. There many tempting one's like-

EPB with Auto Hold, Heated seats (needed in cold pune winters), Cornering lights, electric driver seat adjustment, remote ac operation, Full scale ADAS level 2, Smart trunk, 64 color ambient lighting, rear manual curtains. Makes the VW twins hopelessly outdated.

Pack in the reliable and affordable (relatively) Hyundai ASS, this seems like a great package, even in 1.5 NA guise.

Just hope they haven't skipped on build quality of the car.

re: 2023 Hyundai Verna launched at 10.9 lakhs!

I feel like VW/Skoda might be on their way out because of this new Verna launch.
I have been trying to negotiate a discount on ex-showroom price for Slavia 1.5 MT but now looking at the prices of new Verna I feel that I am already getting 1 Lac discount and also additional features.

re: 2023 Hyundai Verna launched at 10.9 lakhs!

Got the price list for New Delhi.
SX(O) IVT: 18.9 L
SX(O) Turbo: 20.26 L

Massively undercuts the Slavia and Virtus, considering that Verna offers Ventilated/Heated seats and ADAS over VG twins.

I think Hyundai has got that covered. It will definitely get a lot of attention & eyeballs. The '23 Verna will bring some excitement to the C2 sedan segment which hasn't seen action in a long time.
Perfectly spelt !!

Hyundai Verna had sort of lost it's way in the already diminishing Sedan space despite being a superb car. I drive a 2015 Fluidic & it has served me admirably.

Having seen action from Skoda & VW, Hyundai has thought out well & addressed most of the talking points. Rear space, Power, Safety, Sunroof, the MID & many other features that i am sure will be in full view once it's fully launched. Hyundai has shown it's willingness to not only take on the competition but dominate( that it once did) & expand the space in the sedan segment.

From whatever pictures posted on the thread it looks different yet fresh & bold & will be a looker on the street. Certainly at night the razzmatazz of the LEDs will sparkle & stand out.

Waiting for the full review eagerly !!

re: 2023 Hyundai Verna launched at 10.9 lakhs!

The pricing is very competitive. I see most are comparing the top of the line SX(O) with top end Slavia and Virtus. Do note that Verna SX(O) has ADAS, ventilated seats, rear discs etc.

It would be fair to compare the SX 1.5 DCT variant with top end Virtus and Slavia 1.5 DSG. Verna is cheaper by almost 2.5 lakhs (16.08 vs 18.40) .

re: 2023 Hyundai Verna launched at 10.9 lakhs!

That 1.5 litre turbo with Manual Transmission is very attractive. I don't care much about looks, since I'll be inside the car looking at it 95% of the time. But having a powerful engine is the priority and for the lowest price possible.

The SX 1.5 litre turbo manual at around 17.5 lakhs or the SX 1.5 MPi at around 15.2 is what I'd go for. Probably the latter for ease of use and maintenance over a longer period of time, and because it would be cheaper upfront. If I was shopping for a car, and didn't fancy a SUV, I'd be paying close attention right now.
