Does someone know what platform will the sedan be based on? Will it continue with the existing one or is it new? How many starts can we expect in the crash test? Many believe that this Gen Verna is good in terms of chassis strength.

I might be the minority here, but really appreciate Hyundai for getting 160bhp engine and all the more in a sedan. And this is during the time when BMW is downsizing their engines at entry level. Looks like mostly a Verna smoking a X1 on highways.
Hope Verna is indeed as much as fun to drive like VAG twins. And also scores good in safety ratings.

What's wrong with the current designing team of Hyundai? They haven't been able to design a single good looking car since 2020. First, they started with the Creta 2nd gen. After that, the process followed with the launches of i20 3rd gen, Venue facelift, Nios/ Aura facelift. Now, they dare to transform the good looking Verna into a weird one and call the design futuristic.

Does having bhp figures on paper transform to real world performance and confidence inspiring stability on the highway, like the VAG twins? We will have to wait and see.

True. That happened in case of XUV700 as well. Man it looked very ugly from rear quarter angle in that photo. But in reality it appeared to be a beauty.

Lets see the car when its unveiled. Hope it will be like other Hyundai cars, elegant.

Just wanted to correct you, both 1.5 L TSI and 1.0 L TSI engines of the Volkswagen group are manufactured in Pune plant, the only engine which they import is the 1.6 L MPI engine but that is for export models.

Verna gets a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol motor. It generates 160 PS of max power and 260 Nm of peak torque. These numbers are best-in-segment, making new Verna the most powerful mid-size sedan. The turbo petrol motor has transmission options of 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT). Verna’s second engine option of 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol is the same as earlier. It churns out 113 bhp / 144 Nm and is mated to either a 6-speed manual or an IVT gearbox. Apart from being RDE-compliant, new-gen Verna is also ready to receive the greener E20 ethanol-mix fuel.

Apart from the polarising looks, the numbers are great for the segment. An N-Line version with stiffer springs could be a hot rod to drive around with all those features. Hope they build it considering safety in mind too.

Design is polarising as expected but the front light bar looks ugly and would look much better with regular DRLs. Maybe it will look better in person? Let's see.
One big let down is the lack of diesel option considering Hyundai could have easily offered the new 1.5 Diesel that is available on Creta, Venue, etc. Hyundai petrol engines are not known for efficiency so not providing Diesel is a missed opportunity.

After seeing these photos, I am reserving my judgement until I see the car in person. IMHO these make the car look really cool.

What an ugly looking grill! This family grill was nice in the Tucson though. Hope this drives and handles well for all those 160 horses. The grill can at least be blackened to mask the ugliness. I don’t understand the design thought behind making cars a light bulb showroom like the 90’s tourist buses, maybe thats the in thing and a sign of me getting older.

Looks cool in those pictures except that front light bar. Not sure these are real or rendered, below a YT shorts and seems it’s the same designer team. The designer logo appears to be same.
