There's also the small matter of safety... Both VAG twins (and even some Indian manufacturers) are NCAP 5 rated while Hyundai & Kia manage a paltry 3. Funnily if you see the Ioniq 5 which is a global model, the safety rating is 5.

So unless Hyundai & their cousin start treating Indian model with the same approach to safety as their global models, I can be bothered.

Oh my good lord, what is that ??? Do Hyundai even have a design department anymore ??? That is one hideous looking car. So many shapes and what’s with the headlamp placement down there.

I think the 2015-2016 model was the best one. Better looking front portion. But I agree this overall design was sleek.

OMG! Looks like a German Korean hybrid. I've held off from booking the Slavia 1.5 MT waiting for the new Verna which promised segment leading power of 160HP. Now my stomach churns looking at this atrocious tiffin box design.

Looks like it underwent a mutation. Such hideous designs. It all started from the Creta and now this disaster. This bug has been caught by KIA also. Their newer designs are quite quirky as per my opinion.

Hyundai has gone mad with design and the level of madness keeps rising with each new model. Surprisingly, Honda is getting better at design. Did they both exchange their designers?

I had my eye on the Slavia 1.5. One of the best sedans i experienced was the last iteration of the 1.6 Verna diesel. It was a stonker. Hope this will provide the next level of performance.

The 1.5 turbo option has 8 trim levels which would be interesting given that the Slavia 1.5 has only 2.

Looks like Hyundai is trying to bring the design language of Elantra US with all that cuts and creases. Looks overdone for sure.

I believe the appropriate response to this design is "MY EYES! MY EYES!"

Some part-deuglification is possible. It looks like the light bar is made up of 3 sections. 3M wrap on the the center section would make some difference. Not sure if the heat from the LEDs would melt the wrap though. Or wonder is it possible to disconnect that section of the light bar.

I personally feel the design is only slightly overdone. The 10-spoke alloys look sweet. Power-train combination, however, makes me feel the pricing will cross 26 Lacs OTR in Karnataka. But happy to be proven wrong by Hyundai. I had read somewhere that it will finally revert to all-wheel discs, at-least mid variant onwards. That will be one welcome change, but I will expect them to equip even the base variant with all-wheel discs. Fingers crossed.

There's something with these Hyundai designs. Every new design of Verna makes me feel the immediate predecessor was the best one. I'd still reserve my final comments on final pictures that come out.
