Wasnt there a notice to disallow the sale of such devices? If no, then there should be one.

In the market for a sedan for city chores, thus was waiting for the new Verna to be launched. Is the launch date of March 23rd confirmed for India as well?

, More than bad roads in city's, I think the problem is traffic. The roads are atleast good nowadays in banglore when compared to the time during covid.

The highways though are really good now. I travelled from Andhra to Banglore and the highways were exellent. Yes the roads in city's are not still as good as I want it to be, so yeah, I should take my words back. More than potholes, huge speed breakers are a problem I face in banglore.

Came across this a while ago. The vehicle on the road continues to be camouflaged

Launch does seem around the corner

A teeny tiny glimpse of the tellurian brown colour of the new Hyundai Verna. 2023 Hyundai Verna launched at 10.9 lakhs!-bdae18cc3f634321b91a99aa8b3b6706.jpeg

A lot of focus in that video towards the structural reinforcement and safety of the car considering this is one of the very major criticisms of Hyundai vehicles today.

re: 2023 Hyundai Verna launched at 10.9 lakhs!

I know that I am jumping the gun and this is nothing short of speculation at this point of time. But what would the expected ballpark of fuel efficiency for the 1.5 T-GDI be? (those who have real world information from the i30 could please share your inputs).

I am currently having a 2019 Verna VTVT 1.6 NA Manual and I always run on XP95 and I have upsized my tyres to Continental UC6 205/55/R16. I have noticed that the gain in FE that I get from XP95 is offset by the larger contact patch. I get around +/- 8 kmpl in bumper-to-bumper traffic and +/- 9.5 kmpl in reasonable traffic and +/- 13 kmpl with a heavy right foot with triple digit speeds (all figures from MID and hence, the real world FE would be lower than this).

Where would this put the 1.5 TGDI DCT? Owners of the Virtus GT seem to get around 13.5kmpl on the highway and that's with a 1.5 Turbo Petrol with a DSG. What are your inputs on this? (We know Turbo petrols are notorious to give lower FE with a heavy right foot)

What would be the situation of one upgrades the rubber to 215/55/R16 (I suppose the stock would be 205/55/R16) and that how would that affect the FE?

Thanks
Aditya

Yes, you're right. Two major takeaways from the video = usage of 42% Advanced High Strength Steel (I'm assuming this is Hyundai's nomenclature for Ultra High Strength Steel, please correct me if I'm wrong) and 30% High Strength Steel.

Also seen in this shot is the use of drum brakes at the rear. I really hope this shot is of a lower spec Verna. If not, providing rear disks for your ~20+ lakh rupee sedan wouldn't hurt, Hyundai. Mind you, the outgoing Verna had rear disk brakes.

With a light foot I get 18-20 kmpl on highways with my Virtus GT. 15 kmpl with spirited driving.
11-12 kmpl in the city. In Coimbatore bumper to bumper traffic is a rarity and I don’t remember the mileage then (maybe 9-10 kmpl).
I’m guessing the turbo petrol in the new verna to behave in the same manner with +/- 1kmpl.

To answer your second question - yes, wider tyres means less FE but in this case (205-215) not by much.

That isn’t the Tellurian Brown paint, it is a thin foam protection put on car bodies while it’s on the assembly line, to prevent any damage to the paint while the trim and chassis components are being fitted.

The actual paint is Grey as can be seen from the bumpers, upper half of the B-pillar and the A-pillar.

This same Grey coloured Verna is then camouflaged and brought out in the open for testing, can be confirmed from the roof and wing mirrors.

Frankly, it should not make a huge difference. When I was in the market some years ago for Honda City (4th gen) vs Corolla Altis , I found in one of the more credible auto mag comparo videos (not Youtubers) that the braking distance of the City was less than the Altis inspite of the Altis having all-disc brakes. It depends on the weight of the car as well I guess. The Verna may not be a heavy car (say, excess of 1.3 tons) after all. There's no diesel variant anymore either.

re: 2023 Hyundai Verna launched at 10.9 lakhs!

With the 1.5 TGDi Caren's iMT being launched at 12L, the Verna in MT guise might be thereabouts, keen pricing for a 160 HP if that happens, an undercut on this price, shall create a riot.

Brilliant brilliant pricing to say the least on the Caren's, MT would have been better though.

The pricing is due to the local assembly of the engine, whereas the old 1.4TGDi was fully imported.

Hope it will reflect on the pricing of the New Verna.
