SX4 : The new flavor among cab operators?

The SX4 hasnt been around for long, and hence i was pleasantly surprised when i came across a SX4 with the yellow licence plate here in Bangalore, which meant it was a cab !! Does this mean the beginning of the SX4 as a cabbie favourite? i believe even Jkdas reported spotting one of them .. SX4 cabs.

Haven't we seen corolla's with such number plates? these cars are used by big tour operators and car rental guys who give it "On Hire" on a KM/Hr basis not the normal cabbies! I am sure they would ask a minimum os 2000-3K for 8hrs/80 Kms for the SX4

Amtak, I guess the Corollas had the black boards with yellow lettering, and not these. In fact, we even have a currently active thread discussing about what they actually mean.

Is it good or bad?

Will surely steal the snob value that a sedan like SX4 offers!

Blackboards with a yellow lettering means it is leased and Yellow board with black lettering means its a Taxi cab, private or public. Commercial vehicles use the same kind of plates as a taxi cab. You will find that most hotels like the Oberois and the Taj have a fleet of "Leased" cabs operating exclusively for them.

It could actually benefit MUL more than do harm to it firstly they can get the VXi model moving of the shelf [seen two cabs so far both vxi's so I am presuming most sold would be the Vxi variant].Another very important benefit it could bring in for the SX4 is it will help bring in a low maintainance tag as well as the fact that FE figures are not horror stories. They can go slow on the diesel sx4.

But yes too many cabs and then things will change.

I have seen two SX4s in Bangalore as Taxis (Yellow Board). One was a ZXI and another one was VXi. Both parked on Vittal Mallya Road.

Well, in that case, the same funda should apply for the Ikon Flair cabs too. Still we have many who see Ford's as high on maintenance!

I agree it does. I am not really liking the fact that there are a lot of Ikon cabs in Bangalore these days.

Ben Ikons have been around for quite sometime now. Most of these are being used in hotels as chauffuered taxi's.

But thats ok man, even merc's and bmw's are used as taxi's, does that induce an inferiority complex in other proud owners? I guess not.

The same holds good for SX-4's also.
