As per latest intel from MG HQ, Hector New Gen 2023 launch will happen by October end with complete details and price reveal.

Deliveries will start from January 2023. MG doesn't want to bring it out in December to avoid sales impact on account of year change.

Other key pointers:
1) We can expect 1.5 lakh price increase over current top variant.
2) Infinity premium sound system may only come in New Gen, once launched.
3) New HD 360 camera setup
4) ADAS Level 2
5) New 18 inch alloys
6) Better smooth/fluid UI and touchscreen response.

The long wait for face-lift gets another extension. But in any case since I'm clear that I want to go face-lift variant, willing to wait another 2 months.

2023 MG Hector Strong Hybrid Auto – 2.0 L Petrol, 174 Hp, 320 Nm, 22 Kmpl

This new 2.0L powertrain on Almaz Hybrid Concept packs a 2,000cc engine with 134 bhp of power and 175 Nm of torque. It gets a dedicated hybrid automatic transmission with two electric motors named P1+P3 motor/generator unit. Combined peak output is at 174 bhp and 320 Nm.

This Hybrid Concept car was showcased at Wuling’s booth at Indonesia Electric Motor Show 2022 at JCC Senayan Jakarta.

Wuling Almaz Hybrid is expected to launch in Indonesia in October, though. One can hope the Hector strong hybrid comes to India sometime next year

This could be a game changer in India once introduced. Such large SUV with 22kpml mileage would be class leading (that too petrol!) and will address the biggest concern people have with this car!

Found these new pictures of upcoming Hector. This one seems to be diesel variant with manual handbreak and current model's gear lever.

This may also confirm we may not get AT in Diesel variant, one of the most requested change!

Backseat looks familiar, with nothing much to talk about.

Is there any news of the Hector Plus getting launched along with the facelifted Hector ?

Also, that gear lever in the diesel manual looks so out of place. Even cars cost 1/3rd the cost of the Hector have better looking gear knobs. Thought they would address it in the facelift.

2022 MG Hector Automatic interior spied ahead of launch

A test mule of the upcoming MG Hector has been spotted once again. This time, we get a peek into the SUV’s interior.



The updated Hector comes with a vertically oriented 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the 3-spoke steering wheel has been carried over unchanged. This particular test car is equipped with an automatic transmission.



Speaking of features, the MG Hector will also be offered with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).



MG has made some changes to the exterior of the Hector as well. These include a redesigned front grille with chrome inserts and LED daytime running lights positioned on either side. The updated front bumper houses dual-pod LED headlamps, and the tail lamp clusters get minor changes as well.



The new Hector will be mechanically identical to the outgoing model. It will continue to use the same 2.0-litre diesel, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre mild-hybrid powertrains.

I can't wrap my head around the fact that MG is not offering the Hector in the automatic diesel guise. At this price point majority customers now moving towards automatics. In fact even at lower price points individuals who self drive prefer automatics. It's time MG gets an auto variant for the diesel!

And even with the Petrol CVT, it's not a hybrid and the mileage is so poor. Not sure why MG is not listening to customer reviews.

Does anyone have updates on whether the facelift is launching in the coming days? I’m really curious about the price.

If it’s too high, I might go for the current shine CVT model or spend extra and just go for the XUV700-AX 7 AT.

Launch by month end/ early November. Deliveries from January. Read in ET article today that MG is planning to increase Hector production from current 2k to 4k units.

Expect price increase of rs 1.5 lakhs over Sharp.

2022 MG Hector to be launched by December end

MG Motor is gearing up to launch the 2022 Hector in India by the end of December. The carmaker has confirmed this through a response to a message posted by a prospective customer on social media.



MG has already released a few teaser images of the upcoming Hector. The SUV gets a bold new grille and a redesigned front bumper, along with a few minor changes to the rear.

On the inside, the 2022 Hector will be equipped with a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 3-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster. More importantly, the SUV will now be offered with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Unfortunately, MG is in the news for all the wrong reasons. The Indian Government is generally ratcheting up the scrutiny on Chinese owned companies. MG are competing earnestly in the market with good value offerings such as the Astor and I hope they remain committed to the Indian market amidst the ongoing geopolitics.

The day I feared has come! Govt. has come after MG as well now. No matter how well and professionally they have been running the company, govt. will drive it's agenda whichever way possible. Hope this concludes by January, by the time MG starts delivering facelift of Hector. Deloitte is the auditor and I doubt they would do anything to hurt their own reputation. This matter should settle quickly.

Last 2 years govt. has been a road blocker for MG in getting funding from parent company. With money infusion 2 yrs back, they could have got higher market share today and become profitable by now. Still they continue to have patience on this and working towards breakeven next year. This further stress testing by govt. could reveal how much MG can absorb this geopolitic pressure in India!

Hope MG doesn't leave. They keep on challenging competition with VFM offerings, ultimately good for the common man/end user.

I agree that MG has done well by providing quality VFM offerings to the Indian consumer putting pressure on the competition - and hope they continue to do so.

That said, this probe is in terms of audit irregularities around related party transactions, invoicing irregularities etc, per reports MCA is apparently probing these aspects - which is why the auditor Deloitte is also expected to contribute to the probe. Its difficult to believe MG's spin on the story that MCA is probing why the company isnt profitable.

The seemingly best of companies can have financial/ audit irregularities - and that may have nothing to do with quality of product offered.

Wanted to balance the argument - since seems the jury has already pronounced this as a 'witch-hunt' against MG. Let the probe assess the truth.

I guess this bit was accurate from delivery timelines perspective! Rest it has been a long wait!!

As per latest articles, 5th Jan is the confirmed launch date.
