Re: Next-gen Suzuki Swift spied testing for the first time

Next gen Maruti Swift, Dzire to get 35kpl+ strong hybrid option.

New versions of the hatchback and compact sedan could be India’s most fuel-efficient cars when they go on sale in Q1 of 2024.

Next Swift, Dzire to get 1.2 strong hybrid powertrain
Both models target 35-40kpl fuel efficiency
Standard petrol and CNG versions to continue
Quote:
Known by the internal codename YED, the new compact cars will get an all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine (codenamed Z12E), which, unlike the current K12C engine, will be a three-cylinder unit and not a four-cylinder powerplant. It will be mated to a version of Toyota’s strong hybrid tech that we’ve already seen in the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder, both of which are currently being heavily localised in India for an even lower cost price.
Quote:
the high fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions that come from a hybrid powertrain also benefit Maruti’s CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) rating. Not only will more hybrids in the model range improve the brand’s overall score, but hybrids are also awarded ‘super points’ in the CAFE II scoring system.

It makes more sense if this Hybrid system gets introduced in the Baleno, that way Toyota gets to sell a hybrid Glanza as well.

It will come as the Gen. change/facelift will be after the launch of the New Swift.
The key thing here is the powertrain for the Strong Hybrid (THS) will be ready in 2024.

HOT DAMN

That's going to take a lot to compete with for Hyundai/TATA if this does pan out. For a premium of 1-1.5Ls, the cost p/km will be less than the diesels. I do hope the government takes note and provides some green incentives here. Hybrids should be celebrated/promoted more than they are in India, it's long overdue.

Looks like someone who only knows robotic dance hand movements designed this. Hope you guys can imagine what I am saying. I love the previous generation Swift with those pre facelift ZDi alloy wheels. The current generation does not ignite the same fire in me as much as the previous one. I hope this is just a rendering gone extremely wrong.

So much penchant for 3 cylinder hybrids. Cant say, why they can't do a 4 cylinder hybrid for the mass market. Anyways so be it.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki Swift spied testing for the first time

Next Gen. Swift will arrive in Japan by Spring (April/May - 2023).

Swift Sport is scheduled to debut in October, about six months behind the bass Swift.

Expect a 2024 launch in India.

The body size has been slightly enlarged including the wheelbase. This improves the size of the rear seats and luggage space and enhances the product appeal. The overall width will be 1720mm, and it is reported that it will be numbered 3, but there is no problem with usability. It seems that there is an advantage in improving maneuverability by expanding the tread.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki Swift spied testing for the first time

All the spy pics are not in India. It seems Maruti is not in a hurry to launch in India, or else we could've seen test mules by now. April would've been perfect launch with the old Swift phased out without updating to RDE norms.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki Swift spied testing for the first time

New Swift to appear in summer of 2023.

- It appears with a stylish exterior that effectively interweaves roundness and edges while maintaining a keep concept, and an interior with greatly improved texture.

- The power unit is likely to be a 1L mild hybrid

Swift Sport:

- To debut in spring of 2024.

- 1.4L inline 4 DOHC turbo will be a mild hybrid

- Possibility of an improved K14D type + motor

Re: Next-gen Suzuki Swift spied testing for the first time

If there was a non German car in India that deserved a good DCT or at least CVT - it was the Swift. Always.
But now with even the Fronx making do with the terrible AMT (for someone seeking pure thrill from a car, and not just commute) setup - I guess we should even stop dreaming of a Swift with a sophisticated transmission setup.

No matter how many years pass - it hurts to see good cars getting somewhat wasted in our market. And now with the advent of EVs especially in the small car segments - I guess the days are numbered for these ICE hatchbacks within a decade. How many more generations are left to come? Not many. Sigh. *Rant over*.

The previous generation Swift was launched in Feb 2018 and the facelift model came in Feb 2021. So, I think the launch of this new model would be around Feb/Mar 2024.

Though as happened last time, Dzire might be launched before Swift. That would give detailed idea about this new Swift.
