A Hypothetical choice - Fiat Grande Punto or Hyundai i30

Ok we all know that Fiat is getting ready to roll out it's most profitable car,the Grande Punto in India by 2008.
Now if this beast sets in the sales chart especially with its renowned JTD engines, it can for sure give a tough time for other car makers i.e Maruti and Hyundai.
Its less likely that Maruti will get is SX4 hatched to beat it, so its Hyundai which might have a bit of sleepless nights, as neither Getz nor the age old Accent can be compared with the GP.

Hyundai launched its i30 at the 07' Geneva Motor Show to actually take on the Ford Focus. But its likely that the Ford Focus (by 2009) in India will be a sedan and will compete with Corolla and Civic. So as said if GP eats in the sale of the Accent, Hyundai might launch something similar to if not the i30.

Lets not consider the A.S.S as of now, so which one will you choose

The Grande Punto OR

The Hyundai i30

This is a no issue thread started. grande punto can easily be compared with i20 so why i30. I30 would be a bigger car and it is said that it would be the 1st C segment hatchback.

You would find quite a number of thread which says i20 v/s punto and so on

Yes, even I fail to understand the point of this thread. Would agree with all the points stated by Shuvadip.

This thread was started in June 07 when the i30 was launched in Europe, its home market as well that of the GP. i20 was not even launched then AFAIK. I guess hence this comparo. i30 is awaiting a face lift in Europe, so even if it comes here, it will be the facelifted version.

Now I get the point. I overlooked the date as 24th June 2009

Sorry for that!

But by my understanding i30 would be even a bigger hatch, kind of ford fusion.

From what I heard, Hyundai is planning to base its new Elantra sedan on i30. It is that big.
