According to a media report, Volvo could launch the 2023 XC40 in India soon.



The report states that dealerships have started accepting bookings for the updated XC40, with the promise of delivery in 2 months. This means, we can expect the prices to be announced sometime during the festive season.

The 2023 Volvo XC40 gets a few cosmetic changes on the outside. The SUV comes with sharper looking LED headlamps, a frameless grille and a redesigned front bumper. The rear features Volvo’s signature L-shaped tail lights.

Inside, the car gets a large touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. Like the all-electric XC40 Recharge, the ICE version also gets leather-free interior upholstery.

Globally, the XC40 is offered with a hybrid powertrain featuring a 60 kW electric motor and a 10.7 kWh battery pack and a 48 Volt mild-hybrid with 161-247 BHP.

The biggest drawback is the rear space which is the elephant in the room that needs to be addressed. Are you ears Volvo?

I recently test drive the XC40 Recharge and the rear space is decent, better than GLA and X1. There is enough headroom and legroom for 6 ft driver and passenger (under thigh support was not great though). Only issue is the middle seat transmission tunnel hump which makes that seat very uncomfortable but again that's the case for all the other cars in this segment.

Also can't say how much the space inside is different between recharge and normal/hybrid so take this with a pinch of salt.

Rumour: Volvo XC40 & XC90 facelift launch on September 21

According to a media report, Volvo is likely to launch the updated XC40 and XC90 SUVs on September 21, 2022.



The Volvo XC40 gets a few cosmetic changes on the outside. The SUV comes with sharper-looking LED headlamps, a frameless grille and a redesigned front bumper. The rear features Volvo’s signature L-shaped tail lights.

Inside, the car gets a large touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. The XC90 is also expected to get an updated infotainment system; among other changes.

The report also claims that some Volvo dealers have already started accepting bookings for the updated models.

The facelift definitely looks sharper and smarter.
I wonder if the facelift will be applicable to the XC 40 Recharge since deliveries are yet to commence to the best of my knowledge.

The rear seat comfort is a major issue with this model; hope they make some changes and provide some adjustability in addition to better under thigh support.

It will be interesting to see how the pricing is affected; the spate of hikes from almost all manufacturers has set a template for the inevitable hike.

The XC40 Recharge being sold in India already has these updates if I remember correctly. The new Google/Android powered infotainment system is already present in the recharge model. The front grill is also the updated one. Not sure about the LED headlamps though.

Yes, XC40 Recharge will also be the MY2023 facelift version, and different from the MY2022 version that were used for the media drives.

Unfortunately the rear seat remains unchanged with this facelift. This along with the intrusive transmission tunnel are the only major drawback to an otherwise wonderful package.

Regarding pricing, they are likely to remain the same. Just that the current 2.5lac offer will go off although mild hybrid will be replacing the existing model

Based on the visuals, recharge will have the updated LED headlamps with Pixel technology.

The biggest change is under the hood, with a new 197hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol mild-hybrid engine. It also gets some cosmetic changes and added equipment.

Unlike the pre-facelift model that came in a sportier R design trim, the new XC40 is available only in a B4 Ultimate trim.

Available in a single, fully-loaded B4 Ultimate trim, this mid-life facelift brings an updated exterior, more equipment on the inside, and most importantly, a new mild-hybrid petrol powertrain. Along with the XC40, the infotainment system on the XC90 also sees a minor update.
