It would be nice to have a few more matte finish cars out there. I love the Matte look, always looks premium. Maintenance is a hassle though.

Another mid-life refresh from KIA, this may not sell as well as the seltos X Line if not priced properly. But this will definitely draw some people to the showroom, which is what KIA wants.

Kia seems to have a good marketing strategy. Keeps giving something new for customer to walk into the showroom and, if not atleast 20-30% of the footfall would be converted into customers.
Even the current wait time for bookings seems to be reduced by a couple of weeks maybe.

Given the Kia’s pricing history, they’ll surely price it well. I am expecting a premium of approx. 50-60k over the top end GTX+ trim.
My guess is , Kia might not upsize the wheels to 17” as these will be an overkill for a car of this size , unlike the Seltos where they introduced the 18 inchers. That will possibly give them a chance to price this car fairly well.

Anyway, Kia might not be looking at volumes here and will be a sort of ‘niche’ offering for those looking at the top-most trim; unless they don’t get greedy and end up pushing like they do with the HTX AE variant.

I hope they get projector lamps in this X Line. Projectors are sorely missed in the GTX atleast. The LED's have useless high beams! Its a pain when the lighting is compared to lower segments like Baleno etc.

Exactly, they are not looking for volumes, just a way to make more car buyers walk through the door.

New image of Kia Sonet X Line leaks ahead of launch

Kia is gearing up to launch the Sonet X Line in the Indian market. The carmaker had released a teaser video of the car earlier this month and now, a new image of the car has surfaced online.



The X Line variant will be positioned at the top of the Sonet line-up. It is expected to be based on the GTX Plus trim. The car comes with dual-tone alloy wheels and a Matte Graphite exterior colour, as seen in this image. It will also get LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, black chrome exterior trim and gloss black ORVMs.

The Sonet X Line is expected to be offered with two engine options. These include the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit paired with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and the 1.5-litre diesel mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Sonet X-line - just what does the "X" stand for here? I mean is that the start of a x-over option for the car, with AWD for starters and the usual candy-floss that goes with this segment? Or is it only the candy-floss and nothing else?

It is a cosmetic package designed to appeal to a particular audience segment. X-Line is Kia's branding strategy for their top of the line variants.

I don't think there are any takers for a AWD in a less 4M compact SUV.

You are right - google search did not yield any AWD/4WD options under 4 meters in India, except for the Thar. And even for the 4m+ range, the popularity of 4WD / AWD is poor. The inference would be that going off the beaten track - not necessarily off-roading - is not a popular option.
