I doubt that. There have been multiple sightings of test mules of upcoming Gloster facelift. As per latest article on Timesdrive, the facelift is expected soon but with minimal exterior changes.

It could actually be just a minor annual update with minor upgrades and 1 major upgrade of ADAS from level 1 to level 2.

This is news to me. I haven't seen or heard anyone getting excited or even discussing Gloster at all. Is it popular up North ?

While the Gloster is a pretty good vehicle, what this facelift really needs is a MUCH MUCH better gearbox tuning more than anything. That alone should help massively improve driving around the city, which was one of its biggest sore points.

I am presuming their defintion of ADVANCED would be a few more SOFTWARE based features, rather than new hardware as whatever was available in the vehicle was underutilized in the first place.

A drop in price would do much needed boost for the sales, but its highly doubtful they would even go that route with all the inflation and drop in currency values.

My brother has decided to buy a Gloster and he told me a face-lift was coming. This discussion happened on 27th as he came from the showroom and the team there told him a facelift is coming.

Naturally, I searched it on T-BHP and couldn't find anything so dismissed it to be true .

His sales advisory mentioned the facelift is actually a facelift with the bumpers and grill redesigned (the sales advisors didn't know the extent of this plastic surgery, pun intended).
He also mentioned that there are new software updates to the ADAS.
Nothing else was known at that time as they were still to attend that training.

Hopefully they get rid of that gold awful chrome lettering at the rear and go with single tip exhausts that they offer in international markets rather than the ricer looking dual tips they give here. Maybe even a nicer set of tail lamps and a fully digital instrument screen like they started offering in the MG ZS ev facelift and it should be perfect looks wise. The gearbox hopefully comes with a new tune to make it more responsive and ventilated seats could be offered in the passenger seat too instead of just the driver's seat. Get rid of the heated seats that is redundant for our climate.

These are just my hopes for the facelift.

Should be the newer version. I had spotted the Maxus D90 (Gloster) being tested on the roads in Bangalore in early April. Looked just as imposing as the current one with a sharper look.

I had got a few videos while on the move on NICE road as well. So it finally should be coming.

2022 MG Gloster leaks ahead of launch

Images of the 2022 MG Gloster have leaked online ahead of the SUV’s official launch scheduled for August 31, 2022.



The leaked images suggest that the Gloster will get a few updates on the exterior and inside the cabin. On the outside, the SUV gets new 19-inch alloy wheels and a new exterior colour option.



Inside, the Gloster will get 75 connected car features as part of ‘i-Smart 2.0’. These include Hinglish voice commands, live weather updates, Park+ app and remote control for AC, ambient light and audio. The i-Smart app will now support Android watches as well.



The updated Gloster is likely to be offered with the same 2.0-litre diesel engine. It comes in two states of tune – a single turbo version with 161 BHP and 375 Nm and a twin-turbo unit that puts out 215 BHP and 480 Nm. The latter comes with a shift-on-fly 4WD system. An 8-speed automatic transmission is offered as standard across both engine tunes.

Well that's disappointingly little. I was hoping they would take styling cues from the new maxus D60 and give it a more thorough makeover like they did with the MG ZS ev facelift. Especially with the launch of the new Maxus Lingdi a few days ago in China, I was hoping for some new features to trickle down too.

Either way, as long as it gets a better tuned gearbox, fully digital instrument cluster and ventilated seats, it should probably be set to take on the competition as a worthy alternative and would also be a proper upgrade from the lower cost offerings of MG.

So it seems like rationalization of variants -

1. Prices are up by 50k for base trim- Super
2. They have removed 2nd base Smart variant
3. They have removed 4WD from Sharp and priced it lower by ~1 lakh
4. They have increased prices for top Savvy 4WD variant by 1.25 lakh, and also introduced a Savvy 2WD variant

Price hikes are not as high as other brands. And reduction in 4WD variants, and pushing more of 2WDs. Makes sense- very few Gloster owners take their vehicles off-road as compared to say Fortuner owners.

No car in this segment can be as popular as the Fortuner is and the Endeavour had been. But Gloster is a great substitute owing to it's big dimensions. It does have a amazing road presence so the general public here loves it.
