Audi has announced the launch of the new Q3 in India. The SUV is available in two variants: Premium Plus and Technology priced at Rs 44.89 lakh and Rs 50.39 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.



The new Q3 is based on the VW Group’s MQB platform. At the front, the SUV gets a large hexagonal grille and redesigned LED headlamps, while the rear features wraparound LED tail lamps and redesigned front and rear bumpers.

The 2022 Q3 gets a refreshed interior with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other features include power-adjustable, heated and power-folding ORVMs, a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable front seats with lumbar support and a 3-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters.

The new Q3 is available with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 187 BHP and 320 Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system.

Goodness gracious! 50.39 lakhs for an Audi Q3? Is it too early to say that this car will be a flop in India?
Damn, the price of vehicles in India are skyrocketing! A time isn't far away when we get to see a Maruti Suzuki Alto being priced at 20 lakhs.
Apart from the requirement of brand value, I really can't think of any other reason why someone would pick the new Q3 instead of a Tiguan/Kodiaq.

This car is dead on arrival with that pricing I don't see any reason why someone would choose this over XC40, XC40 recharge, X1, GLA, Kodiaq, Tucson or Tiguan.

The Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d 4MATIC appears to be good value for money at an ex-showroom price of ₹ 48,90,000.

Same engine and dashboard as the Tiguan and a similar interior too. The tiguan is larger in size too and (subjectively) looks better. What exactly are we paying the premium for other than the badge? Does it have any extra features?

Almost all of the new VW and Audis have compromised interior quality. Seems like this move was made by them to pay up the debts of Dieselgate scandal and push their move towards electrification!

The rupee has appreciated against the Euro. So, it should have been priced lower than earlier

The MQB Q3 priced more than the MLB A4. Same feature set and drivetrain. Only addition is Quattro. Really can't wrap my head around it.

Was expecting 40 for PP and 45 for Tech.

That is 62.50 lakh on-road in Bangalore!

The pricing of the new Q3 shouldn't come across as a surprise. Market dynamics have changed in 2022 especially in the luxury car segment. The manufacturers have been shifting the price bands upwards quarter by quarter and still there doesn't seem to be any shortage of takers.

There are hardly any discounts on mainstream models that one can negotiate and the famed Audi discounts don't appear to exist, atleast in the South. I recently picked up a GLA 220d 4-matic and while I was shopping around the only 'real' discounts I found were on the Audi Q2 and BMW X1 both of which were or are at the end of their life cycle in India.

For other cars, discounts were simply given by waiving off the bloated insurance margins, the insane handling charges and 3rd year warranty. The dealers dont budge a single rupee on the ex-showroom as they used to.

In fact, luxury cars bought at good discounts prior to 2021 are proving to be good investments! You could have bought a 3 series or 5 series and sell it with little or no depreciation after using it for a couple of years given the current retail prices of these cars.

With such prices, the Skoda Kodiaq feels truly V-F-M. Same engine, more space, AWD system, 5+2 seating, and more variants on offer.

It's a typical Skoda! More bang for your buck, does 75% of what an Audi does at a cheaper price.

When i got my Q3 35TDI Quattro premium plus in 2019 May, i think the exshowroom price was 42L. I got a mega discount of 12L and on road cost was 38 for me. If the discount is taken out, the new Q3 is only 3L more expensive than the previous generation. That is not a huge rise in price i think.
