Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

Citroen C3 Aircross TVC:

Some insights to the C3 Aircross:

Quote:
With an outstanding design and unprecedented technologies, it has an exclusive third row with individual removable seats that gives the SUV a unique versatility.

With the largest trunk space in the segment, up to 489 liters in its 7-seater version.
Quote:
Comfort is not only an essential element of a Citroën, but also one of the pillars of the brand. That is why the new C3 Aircross SUV is equipped with a suspension capable of absorbing the most different irregularities of the floor, has soft two-tone seats and gives all occupants a smooth ride. This well-being continues in the cabin climate control, thanks to the exclusive roof ventilation system, which offers even more comfort to the occupants of the rear seats. Its wide wheelbase of more than 2.67 metres has made a large cabin possible for everyone, and second-row passengers will be able to enjoy the most legroom in the segment.

At the rear of the new Citroën C3 Aircross SUV there is also another SUV exclusivity. The two seats in the third row are individual and removable: the customer can use both, only one or remove them completely, expanding the load capacity of the trunk. Weighing approximately 8 kg each, the process of removing the seats is simple and intuitive. This versatility gives the new C3 Aircross SUV the largest cargo space in the B-SUV segment, with up to 489 litres of volume in the 7-passenger version.
Quote:
On the side, the wide rear doors stand out, designed to optimize access to the second and third rows of seats. Integrated into the design, they carry the strong character lines of the new C3 Aircross SUV from front to rear, passing through windows in the C column that create a glazed area while increasing comfort for rear seat occupants. The side strokes run more than 4.32 meters long and meet the bold taillights, which bring with them the DNA of Citroën with two characteristics that advance in the direction of the rear fender.

The optical assemblies are linked by a visual element in the tailgate, giving the New C3 Aircross SUV a robust look, reinforcing the solidity and size of the SUV. These elements continue in the bumper, which unites form and function in one piece that protects the model while highlighting the wide ground clearance of 200 mm and the excellent departure angle.

Inside, the new Citroën C3 Aircross SUV benefits from a 360° approach, which glimpses all the elements around the occupants so that they always have comfort and well-being on board. This care begins already in the driver's seat, which will have in front of it an exclusive digital instrument panel with a customizable 7" screen. Its intuitive interface does a perfect job with the 10" Citroën Connect touchscreen, equipped with Android Auto connection and wireless Apple Carplay. And since connectivity is present in every family, the new C3 Aircross SUV can be equipped with up to five USB connectors, ensuring everyone on board can use and recharge their smartphones.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

Interior, MID and seats look cheap. The exterior is real good. If the last row seats fold flat it would be a good spacious 5 seater car to compete with Brezza and like. Ground clearance looks very good.
No way it can come close to Creta class.

Clearly, Citroen seem to be having problems with sourcing the auto gearboxes from Aisin, so don't hold your breath for it anytime soon.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

I don't consider it a Creta Competitor. Why?
  • No Automatic Climate Control (even MS doesn't do this)
  • No Automatic Transmission gearbox offerings (or even a timeline!)
  • No Sunroof (i don't prefer it but Creta does offer it)
  • No passenger grab handle in the front
  • 1.2l Turbo engine (it will suffice for normal drives but against Creta?)
  • The Transmisison Tunnel seems much higher than in Creta
Considering they keep delaying their proposed upgrades for the C3, it will likely be atleast H1 2024 before even they announce a better engine and/or Automatic Transmission.

Citroen seem to have fixated on the Creta, maybe because their petrol manuals are in the 11-15l range (ex-showroom) and they are going to price it similarly which will be bad for this offering.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

This looks more to be a Triber competitor than a Creta competitor. Pricing in Creta, even Venue/Brezza territory wouldn’t work. But Triber/Duster pricing would make this a good bet.

Creta Engine is 1500cc.

C3 is 1200cc turbo charged tuned for balance of performance and economy.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

Autocar Indias Renuka says Citroen is tight lipped about the engine options.

it would be suicide if Citroen is thinking of 1200cc NA engine for a lower cost

1200 turbo is the one to go for only.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

I have a feeling Citroen at later stage may get their 1.2 liter 155 hp engine if C3 Aircross succeeds

Why is Citroen not looking at AMT for C3 and CVT for Aircross if AISIN is not in a position to supply required number of units in the required time?

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

India needs Renault Triber with turbo petrol. Here's C3 aircross with 1.2Turbo. With 4 star rating Renault is missing a trick in MUV segment. Let's see if C3 aircross is priced competitively like C3.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

Honestly, I think 1.2L turbo petrol is not a bad setup. For context, Jeep Compass petrol has a 1.4L turbo engine for a car that is definitely a lot heavier than this.

Overall design looks good and proportional
7 seats is definitely an overkill, but like Innova, I am sure they will soon introduce other seating configurations

If they can price is strategically, they might have a winner with this C3 Aircross

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

If the pricing vs features goes well then the top and mid variant will give Venue Sonnet Creta Seltos Nexon a tough time.

Especially once the sales outlets reach 100 numbers.

Barebone interiors, SUV looks, French company, fantastic ride quality.

Citroen is basically launching a new Duster.

Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3-citroenc3aircross2024.jpg

Analyzing the images released by the Brazilian subsidiary of Citroên, apparently the local version will already have an automatic transmission. I believe that the question is about which transmission to adopt. In Brazil, the model will probably be equipped with 2 engines:
1.6 EC5 naturally aspirated ex-PSA with 120 hp and 15.7 kgfm.
1.0 GSE turbo from ex-FCA with 130hp and 20.4 kgfm.
So far, the aspirated 1.6 engine has always been combined with an automatic transmission with torque converter and 6 gears in all local models (new C3 and C4 Cactus).
The 1.0 turbo engine is always being equipped with a CVT transmission with 7 simulated gears in local models (Fiat Pulse and Fastback).

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

Are they really going to offer single-barrel headlights on this car at the targeted segment ? Oh God ! Halogen headlights are fine but single barrel headlights are pathetic especially on the highways.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

In case they have made it barebones just to keep the safety, durability and comfort intact, dare I say this is potentially the best car under 12 lakhs... (for those not interested in performance).

It seems the top trim even has a solid roof with no hole in it! 😱

Well, hope Citroën doesn't pack their bags by the time I get a used one.
