Re: Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door caught testing in India

As per my brother-in-law, Maruti Jimny commercial will be shot in Lahaul. Can't say whether the entire commercial will be shot in Lahaul or a part of it. He was contacted by someone to lend a lamb for the ad shoot but my father-in-law declined

I have asked him to find out more about the ad shoot. Let's see what he can find out.

Absolutely correct.
I would even hazard that, 90% of the new Gen Thar owners must be like me, using their Thars 90% in cities and highways and maybe 10% off road or on trails. It will only be that 10% of owners who are totally focussed on off road.
But the number is growing, thats for sure and the overall lifestyle market is expanding. But practicality and useability for day to day use will outweigh most things else for the majority of users.

Jimny 5-door sans camo

Seen somewhere in north India, the Jimny 5-door seems to be undergoing final round of tests without any camo.

So here's the pic of 5 door Jimny in Lahaul. Someone has posted it in their Insta reel. Looks ok, not as good as the 3 door version.

The second row glass looks to have a partition implying that only partial piece would slide down.
Maruti could’ve executed this in a better manner

Well. They couldn't do much, especially with that rear wheel arch eating into the rear door. But then, no one can complain about the rear windows not going down completely.

Edit: With the Jimny badging, guess it wouldn't be called as Gypsy for the Indian market.

1. Looks very proportionate. I thought making the 3 door to 5 door transformation will give weird angles to the car but think I'm mistaken. Ground clearance looks excellent.

2. Classic flap type door handles. I'm not sure how Maruti will implement Keyless entry feature on those door handles. If not, Maruti will save big bucks skipping it and some of us will be disappointed.

3. I sincerely hope the Jimny badging is for the pre-prod versions and Maruti will surprise us with Gypsy badging at launch. If not, I'll buy a Gypsy badge and will stick it once I get my Jimny.

There's a request button right beside the handle, as already done in the current 3-door Jimny

Re: Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door caught testing in India

Maruti Suzuki working on plugging gaps in the product portfolio, will showcase two new SUV models at the auto expo.
YY8 is an EV concept, is it the second SUV that is being talked of?

1. Jimny
2. SUV Coupe based on the Baleno platform (YTB?)

How certain are we that the Jimny is coming to the Indian market at all?

Will have a separate stand alone button like the current Celerio has.

My kind of thinking. A step ahead, I am already thinking of putting some MARUTI badging.

This is due to the wheel arch portion blocking the 2nd row window glass movement. Single window pane cannot be driven down, not even partially.

Meanwhile the black cladding on wheel arches look too much bulky and imposing. Would have loved if they provide some mountain peak and river shaped stamping on front wheel arches.

This Kinetic yellow colour looks cool. I would love to own a Dual Tone Kinetic Yellow with Black roof, 4x4 with Automatic Transmission version; if it comes within 17 Lakhs OTR.

The YY8 is a standalone Creta size BEv that is being developed alongwith Toyota.

The YTB, the second car on the list is the coupeish SUVish one based on the Baleno. Both the Jimny and YTB will be unveiled in production form with launch dates announces, while the YY8 is just a concept for cursory purpose.

Is the left side rear view mirror not internally adjustable ?
I can see a large gap between the mirror and the door.
