Re: 2021 Audi A4 2.0 TSI Technology Ownership Review

Just before 21 months, the Technology variant used to cost slightly lesser than Premium Plus which itself was priced lower than the current base variant price. By the way, Audi India website shows the Technology variant price at 49.97L (instead of 50.99L). Their online configurator isn't updated with the additional equipment and newer shades. This lack of enthusiasm coupled with absence of diesel engine sums up Audi India's poor sales figure over the last 2-3 years.

Top-spec Audi A4 Technology variant gets new features

Audi has introduced new features on the A4 'Technology' variant. The carmaker has also added new colour options.

The A4 Technology variant now comes with a B&O audio system with 3D sound and a flat-bottom steering wheel. The updated A4 range is also available in two new colour schemes: Tango Red and Manhattan Gray.

The A4 is available in three variants – Premium, Premium Plus and Technology, with prices starting at Rs 43.12 lakh. The top-spec Technology trim costs Rs 50.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The A4 is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that produces 187 BHP and 320 Nm and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The engine comes with mild-hybrid tech and has a regenerative braking function.

I believe you meant the other way round, technology costed slightly more than the premium plus which in turn was a bit more that the premium variant :-)

My worry about these babies is their sensitivity towards fuel quality and are our ever-changing fuel norms. I am not sure what is the impact on these cars with E20 fuel which will start rolling out next year. Yes, I know XP95 might be available. But we do see quite a few forum posts where regular petrol was being doled out of these XP95 dispensers.

This move really gives the Tech variant a much needed upraise.
B&O system was really a missing factor for the Top variant. Add to that a sporty Flat bottom steering. This should help in improving Tech variant sales.

Actually, I meant the 2021 Technology variant was priced lower than the 2022 Premium Plus variant (cheaper by 60,000). Likewise, the 2021 Premium Plus variant was priced slightly lesser than the base 2022 Premium variant (cheaper by 78,000).

I knew this response was coming, but you have been kind enough to correct me politely. I realized my folly of misreading your point much later in the day. It was too late to edit my post by then. It seems to be the norm for just about every D segment & entry level luxury cars. A year back there were quite a few options under 50L in Bangalore, including the 330i. Thanks to the rapid inflation, shortage of chips and lack of options, most cars except for the Superb have broken the 50L OTR mark and now sit in the 50 to 70 territory without any new additional features or exciting discounts. Cars that I was looking at and that have gone up many fold are the A4, 3 Series, Camry and the Fortuner. Superb stays put, but the fact that it’s going out of print in Q1 2024 does not inspire confidence. I had put down money on the S60 and now I am waiting for the refund as the S60 has been put on hold for the Indian market per the SA I had been in touch with. I have decided to cool it for the next 3 months and revisit this buying decision sometime early next year. I am completely unconvinced on spending a penny above 50L on something I will replace in 7 to 8 years, thats just insanity (personal opinion btw).
