Yes, in North India, we do have the Vishwakarma Puja, apart from automobiles, mechanical bits are worshipped / prayed.

Ayudha Pooja is one of the most significant aspects of Navratri. In our culture, we set up this aspect that whatever tool it may be, Ayudha Pooja means, every implement that we use, whether it is in vehicle, industry, agriculture or anything else, we approach it respectfully.

We have been practicing pooja of our beloved cars and bikes since we wer kids.Washing and cleaning the cars and then thanking them for their service gives you immense pleasure.

A small Pooja performed today for my professional tools as well. (Got scolded by dad for almost missing the Pooja muharat, me being the usual sleepyhead )

Good to see all the decked up cars and bikes.

Similar tradition is followed in North India on the day of Vishwakarma Pooja i.e. 17th September every year.

All the Machines be it cars, bikes, bicycles or heavy machineries are all cleaned , washed, decorated and worshipped. The idea is to thank the vehicle or machine for the service already rendered and to request trouble free ownership in future.

I still recall my childhood days when it was one of my favourite days of the year reason being
1. School holiday so all day fun.
2. Morning starts with a good wash for our cycles and Dad's bike. Me and my brother were fully involved in making them as shiny as possible.
3. As my Dad used to work in Mining sector PSU. All the departments there used to decorate their offices, display the cleaned and shiny machines in front of them and there were grand celebration for Lord Vishwakarma.
4. Cherry on the cake was the freshly prepared Boondi that we used to get as prasad. It was so yummy that my dinner that day was only Boondi and the fruits from Prasad.

I try to do the same now a days as well by cleaning my Car and thanking it for serving me so well .

A similar tradition is followed in Bengal on the day of Vishwakarma Puja which generally falls around 17th of September every year. All machineries, equipment, vehicles and factories are cleaned, repainted where there are paint chip offs, greased, oiled and made to look like new, then they are worshipped. And generally the technicians who work on them celebrate the day by their own ways.

I admire and thank them every day and night. In my mind, our family deity looks after them just as she looks after us.

I don't know it's technical name, but pic 1 is the mechanism which switches tracks while pic 2 is the control.

So happy to see this sense of gratitude for mechanisms which help you earn your livelihood all across our country!

Personally in my faith, all praise goes to the creator and not the creation, so we just thank god for giving us our car every single time we use it, and for all the good memories and safe trips we have with it .

And the same concept applies to all the other means of livelihood as well..

It is very common ritual here in Goa and you would see most vehicles cleaned and garlanded. Not just vehicles but almost all industries follow it. Even government offices, large companies and public transport vehicles do the cleaning and puja.

I feel it is a good tradition, many of these places only get cleaned this time since they work round the clock.

It is also a bonanza day for stray cattle who goes around ripping off the garlands from vehicles, mine got eaten at the traffic light
