Nissan Qashqai scores 2.5 stars in Green NCAP tests

The Nissan Qashqai has been awarded a 2.5-star rating by Green NCAP. The car scored 7 points on Clean Air Index, 3.9 points on Energy Efficiency Index and 2.1 points on the Greenhouse Gas Index.

According to Green NCAP, the Qashqai scores above average in all lab and street tests and demonstrates good control of particle output and standard emissions. The results in the lab tests are in line with the behaviour on the open road.

The report states that the 12V mild hybrid system only offers a limited possibility to improve fuel economy. Approximately 6.5 litres/100 km are needed in both WLTC+ lab tests as well as in real-world on-road tests. The car consumed an additional 2 litres during the highway test, resulting in a fuel economy of 8.7 litres/100 km.

The Greenhouse Gas Index is calculated by adding emissions related to the supply of energy to the tailpipe emissions. In the WLTC+ lab test, around 38 gCO2-eq of fuel supply is added to a tailpipe value of 147g/km. The Qashqai scored zero points in the Highway test, but the exhaust after-treatment system was able to reduce nitrous oxide and methane emissions.
