The launch of their mid-size SUV will offer Honda one last opportunity to redeem themselves. If they plan to bring only the same old 1.5 NA engine, they might as well not bother to launch the SUV. The market in this segment has moved on dramatically, with most offerings including either powerful, turbo petrol engines or strong hybrids. Only the bottom end of the segment, which is unprofitable, still comes with 1.5 NA engines, such as the Grand Vitara/Hyryder base models and the Creta/Seltos base models. The high margin top end models such as the Taigun GT have more power and offer a great driving experience.

Honda needs to bring their 1.5 Turbopetrol available globally to the segment and also offer a strong hybrid. They have the opportunity to bring a whole lot of choice - NA Petrol, Turbo-petrol and Strong Hybrid,
buffeting a wide price range, similar to how Hyundai and Kia played in 2020, offering a diesel and well as two petrol power trains and multiple transmission options for the Creta and Seltos.

re: Honda City Facelift launched at Rs. 11.49 lakhs

The hybrid still costs 5+ lacs on variant to variant comparison which is very steep. I don’t think if anyone would be able to save that much on the running costs.

re: Honda City Facelift launched at Rs. 11.49 lakhs

I feel that a 40K increment for the below list of features over the existing ZX MT is worth it and is really VFM. +1 to Honda on not going over board with the price increase.

I would definitely want the below features in my 2022 5th gen city ZX MT.

Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto
- Wireless charger
- Rain sensing wipers
- PM 2.5 filtration
- Honda sensing safety systems on petrol trims
- Better infotainment & camera

I will be hopping over to check out the new city over the weeekend and try and see if any of these can be retrofitted by Honda in my last year's model. Especially the infotainment and camera.

Regards

re: Honda City Facelift launched at Rs. 11.49 lakhs

Ouch. The hefty premium for the hybrid continues. Toyota Hyryder customers have no need to get confused. The overpriced V hybrid is a huge huge missed opportunity. Rest, it is all the same as before.

re: Honda City Facelift launched at Rs. 11.49 lakhs

I would definitely pay extra for rain sensing wipers & infotainment system if they can fit it in my 2022 city without voiding warranty. Honda sensing features are difficult to retrofit i think.

re: Honda City Facelift launched at Rs. 11.49 lakhs

Too bad we bought the Honda City ZX MT seven months ago. Would've really loved to have atleast wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, and rain sensing wipers in my car. On the facelift - the front now looks like an SUV thanks to those new bumpers (which I'm not a fan of). On the other hand, the rear looks desirable and the diffusers make it look like the BMW 3 series even more now.

And that stupid touchscreen Apart from the wallpaper, I don't think Honda has touched it. Would love to be proven wrong.

re: Honda City Facelift launched at Rs. 11.49 lakhs

Is Honda still proceeding with fixed head rest for the rear seat. The shared pics are not very clear.

Can someone please confirm?

A mere 35K increase for ZX CVT is a good one. I just hoped the V hybrid came with better pricing. ALAS!

re: Honda City Facelift launched at Rs. 11.49 lakhs

The price increase on the 1.5 NA variants is acceptable for the additional features being provided. The premium of INR 6.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom) charged for the hybrid V variant is a joke. Doesn't make any economical sense as a buyer. A half hearted effort & lost opportunity from Honda. Gives an idea of the atrocious pricing they would come up for the upcoming SUV/Compact SUV (hybrid variants).

re: Honda City Facelift launched at Rs. 11.49 lakhs

I hope Honda has sorted out the bouncy suspension on the City's petrol model. On long drives, it does create discomfort for the rear seat passengers, spoils otherwise a smooth car.

re: Honda City Facelift launched at Rs. 11.49 lakhs

I strongly feel this is a last opportunity by Honda. The hybrid V variant is 5.27L more expensive than the V CVT which is very steep. And with the limited new features, they have increased the price of the Hybrid ZX by another 50K when this variant already got a hike of 40K last year thereby making an overall hike of 90K since launch

City petrol getting ADAS at a nominal price hike is the only saving grace.

re: Honda City Facelift launched at Rs. 11.49 lakhs

Anyone has the brochures? I wonder what the variant wise feature distribution is.
And what exactly is the V e-hev losing out with respect to the ZX e-hev? The website with it's refreshed look although pleasing on the eyes has become difficult to navigate and I'm unable to find the brochures.
