Lost Key

I lost one of my 2 keys of my ICATS equipped swipped. What do I do to get a new key. Do I need to discard my remaining key & get 2 new keys?
what's the cost?

Take the other key to the dealer and place an order to get a new one. They take the number on the key and with some cost they will provide you with th e same iCATS key.

iCATS

Actually you don't need to install iCATS,

Just get a sticker that says My Car is iCATS protected and put it on your car
, That will keep the thief away

Your car could be in imminent danger of being stolen!
Forget getting more keys - the thief only need ONE (the missing one) to steal your car.
Go and discuss with Maruti to re-encode your ECU and give you a new set of keys!

Any idea what this would cost?

Anyway, it's almost 10 days since I lost the key & for all 10 days the car was parked close to where I lost it 24 hours a day. And if no one has stolen it yet - so I may take the risk. There's always insurance.

Sorry, carboy, I have no idea. I don't even know whether it is possible, which is why I suggested you go and 'discuss' with Maruti regarding what is possible.

Some expensive models of security systems have this immobiliser. Only difference is that the chip is on the remote, and not embedded into the key.

Hey i have a swift diesel 2007 model- i think i is icats protected-because after january 2007 all maruti cars were i cats protected

i also lost one of my keys and went to the dealer and he told me that a letter has to be faxed to maruti informing them that you have lost the key and along with them sending the number on the key along with the photocopy of the RC

The cost is rs 3000 for 1 key and rs 7000 for 2

i have not placed an order yet as i am still finding some other ways of making the key which is cheaper

The key costs 1200 from maruti, not 3000, you don't need to replace both the keys, just inform them which one is lost, from the key-ring number (I hope it wasn't on the key-ring itself)

Hi hbkamit

I have taken a set of spare keys from Maruti for my SX4. It costs about 1500 Rupees for the 2 keys. The keys come in a set of 2. You need to get the keys programmed at your dealer. It appears that your dealer was looking at changing the locks in the car as well, looking at the prices quoted.
