Re: What is the best car-garage combo in a country like India

Coming to think of it G63AMG is an all in one vehicle. It is one of the best 4x4, has a tremendous presence and recognized all around the world. It can only be complemented by a Rolls Royce.

Re: What is the best car-garage combo in a country like India

A hatch for the city, Sedan for the Highway, 4x4 for the off-road.

Maruti Suzuki S-presso/WagonR.
Skoda Skavia/VW Virtus.
Mahindra Thar/Force Gurkha

All within 50-60 lakh.

Would throw in a Honda CB350 /Royal Enfield to complete the garage.

Re: What is the best car-garage combo in a country like India

I already have 3 in my present garage, Himalayan for my touring (itch to upgrade to a VStrom/Versys 650 after just 10 months and 8000 km), Scorpio (will be upgrading to XUV700 in the near future) for family trips and an Activa for daily use. Other planned additions are a SPresso/Punch - jacked up hatchback for the potholed roles of namma Bengaluru and a fast, good handling bike for breakfast/day rides of 500 km max - Duke 390 is what i can afford but heart says Ninja 650/Street Triple 765. Later on when i have made it in life - a 530d!

Re: What is the best car-garage combo in a country like India

For someone who grew up idolizing Maruti 800 (my family had a scooter for the longest), I am already close to living my automobile dream with an Audi A4 (40 TFSI), Accord 2.4 AT & a Ninja 650.

But of course, ye dil maange more

If cash was not a constraint, my garage would have:
1. A convertible roadster - Porsche 718 Spyder
2. A bigger luxury barge - mercedes S class
3. A full size reliable SUV - Toyota landcruiser
4. A supersport - Kawasaki Ninja H2R

Re: What is the best car-garage combo in a country like India

I love relatively small cars and 95% of the time I am alone in the car. Would love a 3 car garage in Bangalore comprising,
1. 992 911 Porsche GT3
2. LR Defender 5.0 V8 90
3. Volvo XC40 Recharge

Re: What is the best car-garage combo in a country like India

This is really simple: Nexon EV for the city commute, Innova 2.8 for the long hauls and depending on budget allocation a Porsche 911 / Suzuki Hayabusa for proper weekend fun.

Re: What is the best car-garage combo in a country like India

I would like to have below in my garage:

1. Avoid having cars of similar type. While each car is different having variety
lets you enjoy the car.
2. Electric is something I like to own. May be a crossover or sedan.
3. On the flipside, having cars poles apart needs you to keep changing your
driving style, which is a challenge at times.

I am happy with my current garage and will stick to it for quite some time and aspire/dream to upgrade each one with something better .

1. Fortuner->Defender(or upcoming LC Prado V6 diesel)
2. 320Ld-> Tesla(or a 5 series electric //M if BMW makes one)
3. Innova-> May be Hycross strong Hybrid
4. Thar DI- Modify with better wheels, suspension, AC etc.
5. Swift- Mini cooper JCW

So this ensures the garage has almost all possible variety barring few like 2 door sports car, crossover etc.

Re: What is the best car-garage combo in a country like India

My budget cars combination pick is :

1. XUV700 AX7L Diesel AT - for the long hauls, family functions, airport runs etc.

2. Pre owned BMW 3 Series / Audi A4 - for the fun stuff and daily driver to office.

If money were no object :

1. Toyota Land Cruiser / Range Rover :- family vehicle for the long distance travel.

2. Aston Martin DB 11 / Mc Laren P1 :- for the fun ride + exclusivity.

3. Mercedes G Wagon :- for the city + smaller grocery runs ( you did say money no object ).

Re: What is the best car-garage combo in a country like India

A used Volvo V90XC or a 5 series and almost any hot hatch for the 60 lakh aspirational garage.

For a "someday garage" it would be a Mini cooper S convertible, facelifted W222 s-class, m340i and an X5 30d. Even though this is a no-budget garage, it doesn't include any sport/super cars, as I believe a private go kart track would be more worth it.

Re: What is the best car-garage combo in a country like India

This thread would see maximum participation and I don't want to miss my pick!

I would keep the choice of vehicles practical regardless of 'Achievable' or 'Dream Garage'.

1. Achievable Garage - Kodiaq TSI + 530D/ M340i ( + the current rides - V40 CC and the Tiago would continue to do the duties in the garage)

2. Dream Garage - Shooting for a 4 car combo here- 2 EVs and 2 ICE.

EQS (the very best from Merc yet), Volvo EX90 (futuristic Volvo with that killer look and tech), Urus (again a practical super SUV), Defender (needs no explanation with its go anywhere capability)

So, The budget - 50L

The cars
- A Polo TSI AT (already have it, the best possible city runabout)
- A chauffeur driven City/Ciaz (Commuting in heavy traffic takes the joy out of driving
- A Thar 4x4 AT

Now, a bit speculative but still achievable if things go right for me, an Audi A4 instead of a City.
Already have first two!
Need a Scorpio N 4x4 to fulfill the dream one

Re: What is the best car-garage combo in a country like India

60L budget: My current cars are good. Beat diesel manual and Nano petrol-automatic.

Budget no bar: Still Nano petrol-automatic and Ignis Delta diesel-automatic.

Just because I can spend money doesn't mean I would. You'd have to twist my arm to force me to spend so much on transportation.

If I can afford to swap engines and get it on papers, then I'd spend to have the Ignis with Kia 1.5 diesel and auto-clutch manual transmission from the Seltos. This is a nice combination of performance, efficiency, reliability, practicality, and convenience.

Re: What is the best car-garage combo in a country like India

Love these kinds of threads

1. Achievable spend (Rs. 60L budget)
  • Innova Crysta (for highway runs and being chauffeured)
  • MG ZS EV (for city use and self-drive fun)
2. No budget (but trying to minimise the number of cars required)
  • Mercedes GLS 400d (for highway runs and being chauffeured)
  • Mini-Cooper S or JCW (city use, self-drive fun. Hopefully with a manual transmission)
  • Porsche Panamera (all-rounder. Can be self-driven and used with a chauffeur)

I didn't realise it while typing, but my luxury list contains one car from all big 3 german manufacturers. Mercedes, BMW (Mini), and VW Group (Porsche).

Re: What is the best car-garage combo in a country like India

Very happy with current garage:

1. VW GT TSI (1.2) - my daily self-drive and the right answer to any question involving 2 seats or less.
2. Honda City ZX CVT - for the missus to be driven around in comfort.
3. Toyota Fortuner AT to fill with family, dog and luggage and hit the highway.

The dream garage:

1. VW Golf GTI to drive around in the City.
2. BMW 540 to be driven around in the City.
3. Mercedes GLS to hit the highway.
4. A swamp boat for when it rains. This is Mumbai.
