hi guys!
need all tbians help on these few topics

1)what are the points to be looked into when buying a used tata sierra turbo?
my cousin just bought a tavera, he has a 98 model sierra turbo done 1l kms, white colour, no mags or stereo, nicely maintained, mostly used on rough terrain
how much can i offer him?
would a sierra be better or a open jeep like gto's?

2) buying new tyres for our safari
option one: bridgestones: 235/75 rs4000 each provided we buy 10 tyres(5 for safari, 5 for sierra) or rs4100 for five, inclusive of fitting
option two: mrf zvrls: 265/70 rs4800 each for ten tyres, rs5000 each for five tyres, inclusive of fitting,
dout:will 265 fit sierra? its currently running on215 bridgestones

do you guys suggest any other brand??? budget per tyre is max 5k
saw michellin scoprions , was expensive at 8k each, yokohama or bridgestone 265 were 9k each

topic 3:)also could you tell me how to remove the no plates, all my pics are ready but unable to remove the no plates, please name the photo imaging software to be used

Hey Aadix,

Well i just checked on (ms) paint that comes with windows, and i have Win98se on this comp just like you do, and there is an option for saving as JPEG unlike what you had said. Are you sure you checked properly? Did you click "Save AS..."
Hopefully it should be there. If not..i guess i got a service pack u didnt get!

hi rehaan!
wel in mine it shows the first four options , the last jpeg isnt there!

and dude what do u think of the tyre upgrade?

Thats weird abt the jpeg thing!..maybe it was an update..coz i remember being amazed that paint had jpeg and i didnt know about it when i saw it for the first time 3-4years back.

Well i would go for the bridgestones from what you have mentioned!

Well, the bridgestones coz -

1 - they save you money on the purchase (as well as FE)
2- do you really need tires 5cm wider than the stock safari tires ?? ..my guess is no...

just my opinion....

yo gto!
wasnt me posting this your idea?
where's your post bud???

and dippy , think you have owned a sierra right?
what your opinion abt it?

Well... Well.... Sierra is diefinately a gr8 car except it`s rear seat space which is too much creepy.... and as for tyres i am with Rehaan !!

and as for jpeg prob try using "Irfanview" its gr8 handy utility over paint.

Irfanview

try it and give me 2-3 blessings

hey 2f2f
link shows"error not found"!

please post it again bud, or pm me thx!

As with every Tata and Mahindra the later the model year, that much trouble free you can expect the car to be. You are lucky since Tata brought out significant improvements in the Sierra Turbo in early 1998. One of my best buddies owns a 1999 Sierra Turbo and he hasnt had too many problems with it, despite the fact that it recently touched the 1 lac mark. The only real issues were getting it to pass P.U.C. tests. Not a single breakdown yet.

Now in the PM you sent me, you wrote that this Sierra has covered 11000 kms. If thats the case, its still a virgin. But if it has covered 1 lac kms, as your post seems to indicate now...avoid it at any cost. Sierras tend to get really "loose" after 50000 kms and they really near the end of their life around the lac km mark. Expect loads of issues with driveability and road-holding once the odo reads in 6 figures.

It all depends on your personal choice and no one here will be able to convince you of either. A couple of points to consider are : Many consider both the vehicles to be too impractical for daily use (I use my Jeep as a daily driver). But the Sierra is that much more practical than an open Jeep since you can accomodate more people and it is far more comfortable.

With regards to your tyres, just go ahead and pick the bridgestones. 265's will be too much for the Sierra to handle and it isnt exactly a road-burner. Also what Bridgestone spends annually on R&D is more than the net worth of MRF tyres.

thx gto
sorry abt the typo error in the pm
