Dunno if this has been done here before, but this feature on India's 6 Top Selling Cars made for interesting reading.

Was pretty much expecting the MUL dominance, but the No.3 spot for the Indica was a (pleasant) surprise.

The link is very old, I think the list is of 2004. Also the variants mentioned are E1 & E2 so its definetly an old link.

EDIT: its confirmed, one of slides mentions 'rediff.com check out the 6 best-selling cars in India on the basis of their latest (May 2004) sales figures. '

This article does not take into account the niche market.
Eg: It considers c-class and slr-mclaren in same league. slr mclaren is a supercar. How can they expect it to sell as much as c-class, which is the merc's cheapest sedan?
In many company u can see in the article coupes/convertibles are worst sellers. Its a known fact that coupes are preffered by less number of people when compared to sedans.
In many other cases the most expensive is the worst sold.
So, in my opinion this survey is a bit flawed.

the most spotted car in bombay is the swift.......its like every 3 car is the swift..........how many have they sold??

They were able to sell only 60 thousand (59 thousand something) whereas their aim was 80000. lol:
