Kia India announces its certified pre-owned car business

Kia India has announced its certified pre-owned car business ‘Kia CPO’.

Kia CPO outlets will enable customers to buy, sell or exchange pre-owned cars. The company will also offer finance options on used cars and hassle-free ownership transfers.

Kia cars under 5 years of age and with less than 1 lakh km of mileage will be eligible for Kia CPO. Each car will go through a 175-point quality check. Certified cars will have no structural damage, a verified service and ownership history and will be refurbished using genuine parts.

Kia will offer up to 2-years / 40,000 km warranty coverage and up to 4 free periodic maintenance services on its certified used cars.

Kia has set up 15 outlets in 14 cities, including Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Cochin, Bhubaneshwar, Calicut, Amritsar, Nasik, Baroda, Kannur & Malappuram. The company plans to expand to over 30 outlets by the end of this year. It has also introduced a Digital Evaluation Mobile Application offering real-time data and pricing suggestions.

Looks like in India automakers will start emulating the world wide practices. These CPO eventually are pushing people to trust the use car market and automakers keeping the customers with in same brand. Eventually all automakers will start having leasing services and these vehicle eventually ending up on CPO, this generates higher revenue for automakers, as they sell as new and then sell as used, importantly both the sales are linked to market inflation, which means even used car prices are linked based on what the new model costs. Considering price hikes, 10% avg price rise in 3 years, means despite depreciation the value is still good for automakers to make profit on.

Non Kia cars are also available at the CPO outlets.I have seen a few from Maruti and Hyundai parked outside the CPO Outlet near my house.
