Very sad. Mahindra dealers were not responsive about the Alturas G4 even way back in August of this year. Their quoted delivery was February 2023 then. Looking back, I wonder how they would have processed a booking for this SUV.

All things considered, this was my second favorite SUV in the segment after the Ford Endeavour. I wish the engine had a bit more power and there was a little more space behind the third row seat, but, otherwise this was a great SUV for the price.

No it was already pretty underpriced in the used market because no one wanted it. Now even the rare people who do want it will stay away due to the unknown status of parts availability.

This was a car that was neither here nor there. If Mahindra is serious about operating in the 30L+ segment , then it would be a wiser decision to create a new luxury sub brand and sell the cars under that.

Had visited Mahindra showroom last week in Chennai, saw couple of Alturas in the yard. When enquired about it, the sales manager said the manufacturing of this car has been stopped and he was ready to give an upfront discount of 5-7L on whatever stock they had. There was also a mention of a "new" car that would be launched in 2023 to replace the Alturas.

Bookings halted? Were people actually booking it?

Another good car gets axed as
1. Manufacturer could not market it's true potential
2. Customer base in India is not matured enough

Mahindra has failed two of its fantastic products - Alturas and Marazzo. Things would have been totally different if either of these belonged to Kia or Hyundai. Koreans definitely know how to stay relevant and push a product to a certain demography.
