I wasn't aware of this, the safari we have in the family is of the top model, the brake rotor size must be like that to accomodate a smaller wheel size of 16 that you mentioned. I had a look at Neo Wheels website, have been using their alloys for several vehicles over the years and has proved to be durable.

For XUV7OO and Hector it gives 30+ options in terms of alloy wheels, for Safari/Harrier just 1. So yes that's perhaps an unpopular PCD.

I see. I did not know about that statement from Tata.

Although this is stupid(due to cost and tax constraints), but I wish-if the said engine proves to be great- that they use it in Altroz, albeit as a limited production model. Again, impossible, but the idea gives me chills. It would be like the VAG twins - 3 cyl turbo, 1.5L 4 cyl NA with the addition of 3 cyl NA.

Re: Tata Safari facelift spotted testing in Indore

6 Sigma for safari:

Core priority:
1. New horns. The current pair doesn't do justice. Something like Creta.
2. At least front parking sensors integrated onto the main screen
3. Updated infotainment system. The current device lags too much.

Not so critical but appreciated:
4. ADAS: I don’t know how much it would be successful for Indian conditions
5. 360-degree camera: Not a fan of it.
6. 4x4 wheel drive option

Btw, should I go with the existing XZ plus model or wait a couple of months for an update? The dealer in Noida is offering a 50k discount on the adventure edition.

Re: Tata Safari facelift spotted testing in Indore

No steering update, no bueno for me.

When I test drove the Safari this was by far the biggest drawback for this car. The one con I couldn't look past.

Enough of the colors and stickers and chrome accessories, please Tata!

It's funny how the changes you listed as critical could be retrofit from any 3rd party modification store

I just hope they fix the steering and niggles along with knee protection for the driver. Those are critical to the safe and prolonged operation of the car. 4x4/AWD would be great but I doubt Tata is going to invest so much into modifying the entire drivetrain of a fwd designed car along with making the necessary modifications to their production line.

Tata Safari Facelift

Team bhp as well as other website posted pics of camouflaged Tata safari
The front bumper clearly shows presence of ADAS & 360 degree camera & a new infotainment system
Considering the upgrade how well does safari matches with XUV 700 ?
What would be the buying recommendation for the same

Re: Tata Safari facelift spotted testing in Indore

Is it the lack of market research that took TATA by surprise, or is it that they took their eyes off the Harrier/Safari in favour of their ev line up?

The current Safari is already so dated, it feels a couple of years old on the day you buy it. The ADAS (not a critical upgrade, but its a me too that you need to have to stay relevant) and the infotainment, and the general electronics that modern cars need to have are late entrants especially if they move the release to the 2023 festive seasons.

The reason is simple, the ADAS is a more integrated component that an ICE update. It involves changes to the control systems with the drive train especially for adaptive cruise control and collision detection/prevention etc.

The market will move, surely by end of this year around, especially with connected tech, and TATA will still be playing catch up.
If you have a horse in the race, you need to keep grooming it. Something that does not seem to have happened with the Safari. They had and to a small extent still have a good supply chain advantage, however they seem to be losing it.
This is still the most spacious 7 seater (not sure of the new Innova yet), not a bad engine. Somethings they need to sort out, but they need to keep the dates. The current launch times, is a bummer.

Re: Tata Safari facelift spotted testing in Indore

There is crazy demand for XUV 700 and Scorpio N, but not for Harrier/Safari twins. And Tata believes this is due to the lack of features such as ADAS and 360 degree camera!

I wish they worked on the never ending QC issues with their flagship model.

Re: Tata Safari facelift spotted testing in Indore

In a few years time , this vehicle will be around 35L on the road - ADAS is a must, it is going to be there on all vehicles from Creta onwards.

All products in this category will continue to sell decent numbers due to demand , so they do not need to waste resources trying to perfect the existing vehicles.

Re: Tata Safari facelift spotted testing in Indore

Looks like there will finally be a exterior differentiation between Harrier and Safari. Safari facelift looks identical to previous one. Harrier facelift front camouflage indicate different design, rear looks same. Looking forward to Harrier facelift hoping it finally gets a competent infotainment system and practical centre console. Fingers crossed!!!

11th January reveal?
As far as I know, the vehicle exhibition at the Auto Expo will start from 13th January.
A reveal before the expo, and a price announcement at the event, maybe?
Also, is Motorbeam reliable?

We at MotorBeam do our best to be as reliable as possible. 11th and 12th Jan are media days at the Auto Expo where we (and every other publication) will get to see and shoot the vehicles before the gates are opened for the public on 13th Jan.

Thanks for the information!
I hope I didn't offend you. I have not been following the car market very actively these days, so had no idea.
Also, will the images be released on social media on the media day itself?
