The price list. 60 lakhs otr in Chennai. I find it really hard to digest this. It could be just me.

I wonder why BMW did not provide this tune for the Indian market. This particular tune would have put the X1 at least roughly on par with the Mercedes GLA base petrol.
Two reasons I can think of. Lower grade fuel in India and to push up the FE figures for CAFE norms.

If CAFE norms is indeed a reason then we might expect another petrol engine trim launching with iX1.

If CAFE norms is what is bothering the Germans, they must introduce their hybrid powertrains. I'd rather spend a couple of lakhs than be stuck with a puny engine costing 60 big ones.

The reason for Audi launching the Q3 in India, despite the delay, is now apparent. They seem to have an understanding of what BMW has to offer.

This is a sad reality as we are living in a world where good brands lose their value with time.
This is not the direction I hope fore and this is certainly not a car I would want to see with that badge.

A true quality vs quantity argument, I tell you.

Re: Next-gen BMW X1, now launched at 45.90 lakhs!

2023 X1 was in my radar due to the styling changes to my likings and I had my close attention on the 2023 X1 launch. CAFE or not, they messed up the X1 with the poor driver-train combinations. Cancelled my plan for X1, I should restart my options with other OEMs. Thanks BMW.

These guys are crazy ,135 bhp downgrading to such levels. These brands are no head turners these days as it has been long time since they are around.Today they have taken the x6 also off from their list as was the case with x4 last few days ago.The x4 was value for money with the same engine as x5 but costing 30 lacs less.Better go for a kia ,mg,hyundai or harrier with the same specs but almost at half price or more less. The engine is the heart of the car and if you downgrade it to these levels why pay absurd amount more just for the badge which means nothing these days.

The older pre worshipped and well maintained BMWs will definitely get a good price jump due to this launch. There is absolutely no reason now to get a new X1.

Re: Next-gen BMW X1, now launched at 45.90 lakhs!

I was closely tracking this launch, if not for anything, just purely as an entry point into the luxury car segment. While the vehicle looks fabulous, is well appointed with lots of features, somehow, it seems built to a Strict Cost sheet albeit loaded to the gills. Too bad that BMW had to downgrade the nomenclature to 18i, and not matter what they say the 1.5 L petrol will just not cut it on the highways, when you start caning it.

Purely from a "Paisa Vasool" perspective, this is disappointing, when one sees we need to pay upwards of 50 lacs for a 1.5L 3 Cyl mill generating 134 BHP. The DSG is again pointless and a TC box would have been just fine and allowed them to price the car slightly lower. But, the times where car manufacturers would make awesome cars is slowly and steadily diminishing and everyone wants to plonk on a nice logo, load tons of features and charge obscene amounts of money.

More things change, more they remain the same. BMW is going back to horned tail lights after 10 years. I personally loved the 2020 X1 tail lights the most.

It shouldn’t be very difficult, but I don’t think the first owners will get to doing it.
Losing warranties on a BMW will be a huge risk to take.
Perhaps the second owners will get around to remapping the engine 5 years down the line.

Re: Next-gen BMW X1, now launched at 45.90 lakhs!

I went to Joytown event yesterday and checked out almost all cars BMW has to offer. I have booked Tuscon in Aug'22 and still waiting for it's delivery. Special interest for me was new X1 which I thought can force me to think about cancelling Tuscon. But i did not like the X1 design much. Tuscon looks and feel much better be it looks or diesel engine spec or interior space.

Regarding the petrol, it is probably the first BMW with a greater than 9 seconds 0-100 timing. Skoda Kushaq 1.5 tsi costing about a third does it half a second quicker. The only solace should come from iX1 if reasonably priced.
Post mid 2020 BMW ecu's are locked, no remap. Unless you send the ecu abroad to the handful of small firms who've cracked them.
