I think we can all reasonably agree that this boxy Wagon-R'ish thing is not going to be positioned above the Sonet. Just look at it Rear three quarters of both cars.

So you are saying Kia's Exter version will have a panoramic sunroof? while sonet doesn't.! Don't think so.
I for one like the positioning between Sonet & Seltos for 3 reasons,

1) Because it gives an excellent diesel AT in sub 4m, while negating Sonet's rear seat achilles heel. (If reports where true & also boxy looks means space is a priority).

2) Seltos have become too expensive. A spacious practical car & well priced car- Hopefully.

3) Giving more options to customers.

Logically, it should be Kia’s version of Exter to rival Punch. Punch is having almost no serious rivals.

Syros (if it’s an Exter clone) can compete with the Wagon R, Punch, and even be an alternative to the Swift with overlapping price

As there is massive overlap in prices of Seltos and Sonet, and there doesn’t seem to be enough space to slot something between Sonet and Seltos

Ah - I never thought of the Exter! Good catch. That means Kia will now use the i10 platform without having a hatchback/compact sedan in their India portfolio.

Hope they can make it better looking than the Exter, with its quirky rear. That and good safety ratings will make this a good contender for a compact city micro SUV.

Completely agree with you on that one. Esp with the recent updates and addition of kit to the Sonet mid variants, they now have a good spread. Addition of the Sonet GTX (without adas) has also lowered the price point for the almost-fully-featured-top end variant.

People are mistaking the Syros as being from the Exter segment due to its tall boy stance from these spy photos. An Exter-segment car wouldn't feature a panoramic sunroof, flush-fitting door handles, 1.5 Diesel AT or an EV version launching soon.

This thing looks taller and wider than a Sonet in person. Why won't it make sense alongside or slightly above the Sonet? More cabin space, an upright stance with a flat roof, premium features like a panoramic sunroof, an EV variant and the latest Kia design language in line with the EV3s and EV9s. All this in a city-friendly footprint? Enough differentiators if you ask me.

Will it impact the sales of Sonet and Seltos? Of course, it will. But Kia won't care as long as the cross-shopping happens within its showrooms. Doesn't Mahindra somewhat do the same with the Roxx and the Scorpio N?

This reminds me of Kia Soul but Soul is a 4 2m long car. If there is any inspiration from it, Syros will be fairly roomy. Being a Kia, goes without saying that it should be well equipped.

If observed carefully it definitely reminds of Exter silhouette, but you have to give it the Kia designers - their cars look way better than Hyundai cousins.

Also, there’s a blue light and mention of future - is there an Hybrid power train ? I’m excited!
