Re: 2023 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

Seems like current gen will also get some of the facelift elements, especially the new grille. Inside dash set up will continue to remain same.

Re: 2023 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

LAPTOP INSIDE

Should be the new tag line for this updated Hector.
Like the outgoing model, too much bling on the exterior and many segment first in the interiors and features.

Hector has had something for everyone, space, features, comfort, power, but kind of disappointed that there's no diesel auto, which many expected.

The MPV like side profile is something that Hector should've worked on, it still looks like an MPV from sides.

With unrelenting price hike from car makers, Seltos /Creta top end now costs 24L on road, right 24 L for Creta !! (unbelievable ), Can expect this to start from 22L to all the upto 28 or 30 L.

Diesel manual at 30 L?, No thanks.

Re: 2023 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

Features wise the hector takes the win over the XUV700. But the driving feel and the sheer power from the 2.0 turbo petrol on the XUV700 is just leagues ahead it cannot compete. And with an SUV you'd generally prefer a peppy and strong engine to lug all that weight + passengers and luggage. Don't get me wrong the 1.5 petrol in the hector does the job, But its not adequate for what its carrying. The 2.0 diesel however is a torque hungry machine. They should have given the diesel an automatic and it would have made much more sense. Buying a car that size and compromising on a manual because of the diesel is a complete miss MG missed. i hope they introduce the diesel auto soon.

Re: 2023 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

Many youtube influencers are praising the auto turn indicator feature as great safety feature, from the videos, the indicators gets turned on after steering wheel completes almost one rotation, aren't the indicators to be on well before taking the turn, How safe it will be to turn on indicators like this?

The cup holders are very much there but they’re hidden by the sliding cover on top of them. Mild hybrid is not available with the auto box right from launch. MG really need to offer better engine and transmission choices in India. A turbo petrol with CVT and a diesel auto (torque converter) would do wonders for their sales numbers.

Re: 2023 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

Overall great facelift. But this steering position based turn indicators will certainly increase accident chances. This will end up making people more lazy.(A lot of people dont use indicators in first place) Indicators must be on atleast 3 seconds before making a turn or changing lane rather than lighting up as you turn. I hope this can be turned off completely.

The ambient light of cup holders is now missing.
Mild hybrid was earlier available with manual, even with manual it's now gone.

Re: 2023 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

Got call in morning from my SA that unveil is happening today at all showrooms @12 noon. Must be underway right now. I couldn't go, but will try sharing new details, if any.

Also, yesterday found variant mix on FB yesterday, which got confirmed by SA as well.

Re: 2023 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

IMHO 2 things were very much needed in MG Hector :

1. Hybrid in CVT to improve its fuel economy and performance.
2. Diesel Automatic.

While ADAS is a good feature which now comes in Hector, I wonder if any other changes are that significant. Hector is a a very good car and I personally like it over XUV700 and Harrier. But the low mileage on Automatic is definitely a deal-breaker for many people.

Re: 2023 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

Got these pics from an SA that I was interacting with. Officially unveiled today at 12 pm. I couldn't go though.

Front look is imposing and the interiors look well put together. I only wish there was a Diesel automatic.
