The new Maruti flagship SUV will roll out from its new Kharkhoda plant by 2025.

Internally codenamed Maruti Y17, it will essentially be a three-row version of the Grand Vitara SUV that went on sale earlier this year. The Y17 is likely to have an export version, but it is yet to be ascertained if it will also get a Toyota version.

Will it get the 1.4L boosterjet engine?

the three-row Grand Vitara (Y17), the SUV will sit on the same global C platform, similar to the standard version, but it is expected to have a slightly longer wheelbase to accommodate the third row. The SUV could get some styling tweaks to give it a more unique look and differentiate it from its two row sibling. It is also expected to get the same powertrain options as the two-row model and, to create an optimum third-row seating space, it may position the tank underneath.

The way they placed the model in the lineup, with the V-cross and Fortuner instead of the XUV700 and Safari gang had my hopes up high. Hope they do something about the cabin width and also put some 2.0l engines in it, or would they put sub 1.5l engines to escape the 'SUV' classification?

Since the timeline is of 3 years, I think there will be major changes to the chassis. If it was anything like the Alcazar-Creta or Safari-Harrier story, the timeline would've been much shorter. Hence, there is a hope that MS will make it wider and taller!

Well, they could've given the 1.0L Turbo and 1.2L N/A to the Brezza if they cared so much about classifications and extra taxes. They didn't, and hence, there's some hope for this too!
Most probably this 7-seat GV will share engines with the Innova Hycross and will be lighter, so performance shouldn't be a problem.

By 2024, the rumored 1.4L Hybrid engine will debut on the Swift Sport. So there is a chance of that this engine finally making it to India in its more pocket-friendly guise!

This thing should launch by this year itself. Don't get the point of having it launched in 2025 when basically it is a streched Grand Vitara.

Dimensions would change, likely new powertrains and will involve extensive testing.

The Global C platform is highly capable in terms of handling, hope they do justice this time with better engine options. Interior too will need some changes, HU from Baleno won't be accepted by many at this price point.

Looks like they are aiming for the spot between XL6 and the Hycross!

So this will be the NEXA counterpart of Ertiga it seems. After all XL6 was the NEXA equivalent of Maruti Arena's Ertiga.

This is 100% a rebadged Hycross, nothing to do with the Grand Vitara.
