At least from the front, the Gypsy looks better. They should have continued the third generation Jimny, with more rounded corners, and extended the wheelbase for India -- would have looked sleek and modern.

A totally boxy design may suit the HUMVEE/Hummer, but not such a tiny toy vehicle. In spite of the straight lines top to bottom, the driver's left elbow will be poking the front passenger's (not CO-DRIVER : there is only one in a motor vehicle, unlike in aircraft) ribs whenever changing gear, and the right elbow will still be sore from banging against the door !

I really am expecting a NCR based youtuber to come up with a long term review of a 10k+ km run 5 door Jimny even before us tier-II city mere mortals lay our eyes on the Jimny.

Some or rather all of these YouTubers are plain hillarious. Have nearly zero knowledge of tech or driving dynamics, try to make it up with somer rustic hindi and some earthy humour and sound very very earnest while speaking gibberish. And look at the views they draw! They have some magnetic charm which people like I cant understand .

Never underestimate the power of idiots, in a large group!!! Marketing teams have understood this and are first one to provide or facilitate these half baked tech gurus with products /cars.

Re: Maruti Jimny 4-door @ Auto Expo 2023

Really don't understand these discussions about under thigh support and comfort in the context of the Jimny. Thought these were utility vehicles intended for a. People like me in the mountains who have to negotiate landslides and trails or b. The young person, bored with the super smooth surfaces of her urban highways, drives miles out into the countryside to bounce around some abandoned quarry for the heck of it.
If one is looking for under thigh support, perhaps a Creta....?

Re: Maruti Jimny 4-door @ Auto Expo 2023

Today I read this post (Force Gurkha Review) in Team-BHP Gurkha review thread.

I would suggest the prospective Jimny buyers to go through this post and get rid of all the worries, questions; and patiently wait for the Jimny.

I'm really glad you and @neerajku brought this up (as I'm sure there have many such posts in other team-bhp car reviews). Its important we bring attention to the sheer content mediocrity and outright falsehoods that are now prevalent everywhere, because of these self-styled automotive "journalists" leverage the democratisation of online media to bait innocent readers/potential vehicle customers to their platforms.

In my view, for example, look at some of the cringy taglines/articles on Cartoq (which describes itself as a "Empowered by a strong team of auto journalists & content specialists, Cartoq has become a one-stop destination for auto buyers, owners & enthusiasts across the country"): "Toyota Fortuner type 1 conversion into type 2 – Looks neat!", "India’s only blacked-out, lowered Skoda Slavia looks mean". These are bloggers, not journalists

Another channel, in my view, which actually is laughable that its vague, is Faisal Khan. With a mind boggling 1.77Mn users, he calls himself the "biggest automobile influencer" (really?) in the country, with titles like : Velar: Visual Delight, Harrier Facelift - unbelievably good?, Indian Bobber - sexy, naughty, bitchy (wonderful description) MG Comet - practical city car with poor dynamics (mind blowing analysis!)

There is now a huge challenge that industry professionals/websites who are actually talented and knowledgeable are facing in getting their meticulous and diverse content out to the market. Team Bhp, Autocar, Overdrive, Top Gear and other renowned publications are being drowned about by the utter garbage being spammed out.

Well, this is the world we live in. The least us Team-Bhp members can do is drive more visibility to this platform and similar ones, especially for our non-automotive inclined friends and family. Let them take informed decisions especially with such high priced investments.

Re: Maruti Jimny 4-door @ Auto Expo 2023

Would anyone happen to know where one could go and check out the Jimny these days? MS seems to have given Himachal a miss altogether in its original schedule. Any chance the vehicle is still on display in Punjab/Chandigarh? Any info on this would be greatly helpful. Thank you.

Re: Maruti Jimny 4-door @ Auto Expo 2023

Anyone has recently booked a Jimny ? because, i did book one couple of days back online, and have provided the papers to the dealer and in turn, he provided a Pre-Booking number starting with PBKxxxxxxx. I read somewhere in this thread that people received some number starting with SOBxxxxxx. The dealer said that this is my tracking number PBKxxx and once the price is revealed, then I will get more details.

Does anyone have any clarity on this PBKxxxx number, is this enough for now ?. Thanks for helping

If the price is attractive, I will swap this for my 8 year old Thar Crde.

Swami

Re: Maruti Jimny 4-door @ Auto Expo 2023

Is jimny still being displayed in any of the showrooms in Bangalore?
If so, can anyone kindly confirm which showroom?
Few of my friends are planning to have a look at it this weekend.

Regards,
Chandan

Unlikely. The same vehicle was brought to TN and from here it has probably moved to some other state down south.

Not really adding meaningful content to the post but I couldn't help replying and being a whiner here.

I laughed and I do get where you are coming from and we all share the angst with which new age technologies are enabling mediocrity as celebration. I do worry about such trends effecting the buying decisions and make people part away from hard earned money. It is also true that some of us self styled 'enlighten' souls do not like the cringfest content bring served online. Void of internet is full of misinformation and self styled experts dishing out advice to everyone who cares to pause and listen.

Not limited to cars alone, in almost every walk of life, there are notifications being pushed under nose and there is no riddance. Then what does one do about this mayhem and melee of irrelevancy and misguidance? You could give a punch to someone being utter idiot but how would you fight off idiocy?
I don't think I have an answer and begrudgingly I accept that some people, including myself, who question the normal, ask questions and sieve out crap from real stuff are new age epicureans but without having means to live like one will continue to live in abject intellectual poverty around us. I have realised it is not just some people or a group of people who torment the 'content consumers', but their failure to be more responsible is more endemic and runs deeper than being mediocre or being less through or being less professional. As a society we are trained to just eat and survive without investing any energy into thought process. With that as background, I don't think we are going to see any online content which will make sense to some of us. As an example, you just need to read customer reviews of a same very product available in India amazon and US amazon. The difference between quality of content coming from an average joe is mind blowing and the callousness that our side of customers show is unbelievable.

As an individual, I cannot change any of the ill effects unleashed upon us all and just learn to be more adjusting while keeping myself more focused towards the end result/state of mind/quest etc etc. Also it helps that one develops a bit of thick skin and mind his/her own business. I see myself a bit of queer (which is maybe directly and proportionately linked to one's mental and physical age) as I do not have any popular social media. I don't consume or create content. This and the lesson from cartoon I remember from 2000s below help me go through the day with couple of laughs. Hope this will work for you too.

Re: Maruti Jimny 4-door @ Auto Expo 2023

I have been thinking about getting the suspension changed as soon as the car is delivered. This is mainly because I’m sure if my wife rides the normal suspension it would be too soft and wallowing for her taste (she dislikes thar, endeavour etc). Main use is road 99% with some Off roading activities.

Does anybody have experience with Koni on their 4x4 vehicles?
