@sourabhzen : Only the hardcore vehicles designed for off road application can compete on this wading piece. Thar, Gypsy, Gurkha and all.

However you would be very pleasantly surprised that even the old carburetted Maruti 800 which had its ditributor set nice and high up, was able to handle water levels up to its window sill! The bow wave was there and water actually went over the bonnet. This is my personal experience in 1998 November in the heavy rains in Madras on the Taramani stretch where the entire waterway on which the MRTS pillars now are, was completely waterlogged and owing to this the entire road leading to Valmiki Nagar was also deeply waterlogged.
Exactly my point. I too drove Alto thru bonnet high water a couple of times. I am not saying it's OK to do so but saying that a Jimny would require a snorkel to drive Gurgaon flooded roads is quite a lame statement to make.

I second this.

Additionally people stating AT is sluggish or 1.5 old unit is not powerful.

Are we doing Drag race or obstacles course. Obstacles won't have 0-60. Prado, Thar, Gypsy old new will all take their time.

Some may cross better than other in some scenario terrain while some in other. The car is demanding a good waiting globally means it is doing what it is suppose to do perfectly.

Yes, MSIL sheet metal thickness and all needs to be seen. Attributes of MSIL comparison to Suzuki.

The expandability of the platform is exponential with Japan Turbo kits bolt on costing appx 3L to Ironman suspension and better rubber.

Take it in any direction you want , Functional or Aesthetically

Since Jimny will be manufactured in Gurgaon, whether the final product will have a functional snorkel?
300 MM is just a number that most probably equals to the height of the Diff breathers on the Jimny. You can very easily put diff breather extension tubes and raise the point to the same height as the air intake. Internationally this is a very popular DIY that many folks do.

You can search for Jimny Diff Breathers on Google or visit this https://www.bigjimny.com/index.php/f...r-box?start=12 to see how easily it can be done.

The wading depth constraint is more due to the Diffs rather than the Air intake which is already very high. For that too you can put a snorkel.

Well. Some Maruti traditions never change.
That's the first thing I noticed too. I still have the Baleno Sedan and this was a Deja-vu of sorts when I saw it

This was how the earlier Jimny was tested:

Hope now we understand the capabilities of Jimny in a better way.

What I find is MS using old switch gears and other stuffs helps the cost of maintenance low.
It also means every car has more similarity inside.

Eagerly waiting for official accessories list. That should decide if they are targeting Urban's or Adventurer's.

Few months back they surprised people with photo of desert with tire tracks which turned out to be S-Cross ad.

Suzuki Jimny 3d variant spied in a TVC shoot in Rajasthan. Is Maruti planning some surprise for the Indian enthusiasts?

re: Maruti Jimny 4-door @ Auto Expo 2023

Checked out Jimny today at Expo. Quick observations.

- Size definitely felt small(I am 180cm). At least until the price is out, lets not compare it with Thar.
- The suspension compression was significant. Might be due to multiple people getting in and out at the same time.
- Shoulder room in front is less than Swift or Ignis.
- In manual variant there will be shoulder rubbing for sure.
- With my minimal experience in Gypsy as passenger on front seat shoulder room felt almost similar.
- Headroom in front is sufficient. I found it better than GV for my height. Gap was almost like Brezza or my current ride XL6(I find GV headroom least compared to XL6,Brezza).
- Front seats are definitely thinner(base/back), narrower(seat base) and shorter(base length) than Swift or Ignis.
- In short my earlier ride Figo 2018 model has more comfortable seats than this.
- There is no seat height adjuster even on this top variant.
- Plastics though crude are much sturdier than any other Maruti.
- Though it's a squarish car, door edges were soft and rounded to not cause any damage or harm.
- Rear seat again has thin base material. Strictly for two. Don't even think of squeezing kids in between. They will punish you for this torture when they grow up.
- Biggest surprise or most irritating thing was the foot well on driver side. Display car was AT. Space was very less(I wear shoe size 45). There was only a dead pedal to the immediate left of brake pedal. Hardly any gap between dead pedal and brake. I am still not able to process how they will be able to fit a dead pedal in manual variant. I don't think it's feasible. Will be happy to be proven wrong.
- People who didn't like Kinetic Yellow on Web may like it in person. I was in this situation. Though it will be a crowd magnet, and I will skip this color for the very reason.
- Grenite Grey color on accessorized car is average. Maruti missed a great opportunity with Nardo Grey.

I feel this is an extension of Gypsy and should not be compared with Thar. For a family of more than 2, I doubt this can be the primary car.

Oh My God!
Your comparison photo just nails it.
Looks like, shorter than the regular sedans out there in the market. What would be the reason for this? Centre of Gravity for better handling?

Can't say about the spotting of the 3D variant but what I can tell is that this particular guy whose thumbnail is on that image is more of a click-baiter than a Youtuber. This particular guy should never be trusted.

@Mods can you please merge this to my above post.

Few videos from today. Picked up audio from people inside. Front occupants in second video were average height and muscular built.

re: Maruti Jimny 4-door @ Auto Expo 2023

I fail to understand that how does the Jimny look so short in height with 1720 mm.
For reference, WagonR which is quite tall is 1675 mm and Brezza is 1685 mm.

Its depends on the height of the person standing along with the height of the footware vs a Jimny full of people sitting on all seats. A NBA/basketball player standing next to F150 vs average joe.

re: Maruti Jimny 4-door @ Auto Expo 2023

So, with 4 full sized adults on board, the height drops by 40-50 mm because the ground clearance reduces (210 mm to 170-160 mm?) and hence the ramp breakover angle becomes ~22°?

What could be the solution?

If you are referring to the image shared above, it has more to do with the wide angle lens of mobile phone/camera it has been shot with. Not the best reference. I saw it in person and to me it looked just fine.
