Longer wheelbases usually have larger turning radius.

I suppose is the same back when Suzuki samurai got short and long chassis,

Always expected the turning radius to be big for this small car. Its about the same as Fortuner (5.8M), about a foot larger than Crysta (5.4M) and two foot larger than Gypsy (5M).

The closed knuckle ball type front axle limits the amount by which the hub can turn; and the increased wheelbase makes the circle larger.

The paint quality looked pretty decent. The panel gaps etc. came across as consistent. The built seems bantam weight, but not flimsy.

The only big concern I felt on the outside was the hood. I noticed that once it is popped up and on its support stalk, it has a lot of flexibility / movement in it. Not a great indicator of solid built in my opinion.

However, If you're looking for great plastics and interiors, look elsewhere. It's extremely, and sometimes disappointingly basic.

However, the way this thing looks, I am willing to overlook the latter to a large extent.

I also went late evening with my 10 year old kid. He loved the car, though now he wants it in same color as jimny on display. Mahindra showroom is right next, so thought to check Thar, again. I somehow think no one cares there. We stood there for 5 mins and no one came to attend to us. (may be I should carry wands of money in my pocket to show that I am serious buyer). Even if I buy Mahindra, it won't be from concept automobile for sure.

Now waiting for pricing to be out, if its worth the money or Maruti shot itself in the foot with their pricing.
Jimny is definitely a looker than all SUVs on the road, but they could have spent little extra on the interiors. There was huge crowd, but most people were exploring it as a family car and not a serious offroader, so comfort should have given some extra points to jimny.

Perfect. A bluish black one with black steel rims and 215 section BF Goodrich please. And then you are ready to arrive in Shangri La in style. Bonus is it will take you to those white peaks that they show on TV. Smitten. The only Maruti i liked since the first gen Swift came to make my college wet dreams come true.

Thanks a lot for so much information. Just wanted to ask how tough or easy is the ingress compared to Thar which needs one to really climb high to get in.

Maruti usually prices their products competitively. They have a great understanding of the market. They took their own time to develop 5 door model and after seeing it in person, we can see now that 3 door could have faired poorly vs Thar just because of the size.

Don’t know yet how a 4-door Thar will compare with this but Maruti will be safely doing 4-5000 numbers a month just because of those extra doors they enter into the mainstream.

So I won’t worry about prices unless they factor in the initial euphoria and all the curiosity they have generated and price higher than Thar.

On one video the salesman was seen saying it’ll be surely priced lower than thar. For reference, Thar Petrol top end AT is 16.7 Ex. Which IMHO will be too much for the Jimny considering diesel thar (granted no 4x4) is coming for 9.99.

I just hope it’s priced lower than GV entry/mid variants. Zeta manual at 9.99 will be killer. Anything lower is also great.
