Fronx was always referred to as Baleno Cross or Baleno based SUV till it was launched. I don’t think the manufacturer deceived anyone here. Also the Fronx actually looks distinct rather than just a raised Baleno. Regarding the safety, neither the Indian Baleno nor Fronx was ever tested by GNCAP. I believe Maruti made a great move by launching Fronx as the buyers looking for Magnite, Kiger now has one more option.

However, the dealer - Rana Motors GT Karnal Road, Delhi has opened the booking for a Baleno, and in the booking docket has mentioned Fronx. When I checked online, the bookings are open on the website. I have a suspicion that they maybe playing around here. Has this happened with anyone else as well that the salesman has booked a Baleno in their online CRM and you have gotten a message for a Baleno since the booking has not been opened in the dealer's stock list etc.?
I booked it with Pasco Nexa Gurgaon and same happened with me.

Re: Maruti Fronx @ Auto Expo 2023

Maruti receives 4000 bookings for Fronx (as per HT Auto). Quite a disappoint considering its a Maruti.

Will have to do a rethink on my booking if the numbers don't pick up.

HT Auto

The hype machine of pre-bookings should not affect your purchase decision in any manner.

There are no official reviews regarding the drive, or any other aspects of the car, so nobody really knows how the end product will be (except assumptions that it should be similar to a Baleno).

If it turns out to be a really good vehicle at a good price, it's better for you that less people are booking. Your waiting period will be less

The reason is, this car doesn't fall in to any well established (body style) categories. People who want a small car would go for hatchbacks and if they like some SUVish feel, they would opt for CSUVs. This car is neither here not there. Only buyers with 'niche' requirement may go for it.
But personally I like it. It is more like a hatchback with enhanced ground clearance. Driving position will be sufficiently 'commanding' but you don't sit too upright like you are sitting on a chair like in a CSUV.

I am thinking along the same lines. Will hang on to my booking till the actual delivery date approaches and see how the Fronx has fared and take a decision then. I intend to keep the car long term and don't want to be stuck with a dud model or that shouldn't matter?

I am so confused.

I get what you are saying and am in agreement with you. I liked the looks and specs and thought it would be a big hit. Maybe the numbers will pick up once the drive reviews and pricing is out.

Nothing to worry. If i remember Baleno too had very low bookings initially when launched in 2015.

Think it as an alternative to i20 Active. It has similar ground clearance and similarly derived from a running model. It is a rather more practical version of Baleno due to higher GC. However, I will not call it an SUV due to its car like lower seating position..

These are definitely edited images. Notice how the same channel had posted video of same Sigma variant in Blue without any wheel caps.

Re: Maruti Fronx @ Auto Expo 2023

Found this price leak claim ~ Prediction on a YouTube channel.

Maruti Fronx @ Auto Expo 2023-fronx-pricing-leak.png

This may very well be one of the so many predictions going around. But at these ex-showroom prices, the Zeta and Alpha 1.0 variants may be on the pricier end of the spectrum.

This is some serious premium over the baleno. I hope the real prices are a bit lower.
Also the AT premium look obnoxious for the turbo engines.

I am not surprised as Maruti is charging the same premium for TC automatic in Brezza.
