i'll tell u why people hate hyundai....they aren't cars for enthusiasts....the way they handle, they way the drive and the look, everything! and coz people who dont like hyundai, see too many on the road....

but the lot who hate hyundai are almost always the enthusiasts...the rest of the world is very happy with their hyundai....you'll be surprised abiout the percentage of santro owners who say...mera santro tho bahut accha average deta hai....koi problem nahin hai blah blah....

they're cars meant for the balooning nouveau riche....more for the classe moyenne, who are content with trouble free, VFM motoring, i'd bet not more than 40-50% of santros have been pushed around the 130 kmph or accents beyond 140.

I had no respect for hyundai but over a period of time realised that they're just copying the toyota model....keep your cars simple, cheap and trouble free....they've evolved from making the world best ships and have a strong engineering & manufacturing history....their lifecylce in the automobile world has just begun, so it'll be interesting where they will be in 15 years....

they will do well.....but will have to re-invent their existing flagships....with another brand...much like acura and lexus! no one wants to buy a hyundai when u can get honda or toyota for that money.....read hormazd sorabjee's editorial in the feb ACI....

the good thing is intense conmpetition gets the other folks in the market to wake up and smell the coffee....which is always good for us, the customer!

Many are saying that Hyundai are copy cats. So I want to know who else manufactures ugly looking cars like Santro? I'll also put them on my hate list

I have been reading this word ENTHUSIASTS for quite some time now.
Tell me how many enthusiasts are there in India?
How many people shifts their Accents(petrol) @ 6000 rpm or crdi (drifter you are an exception ) @ 4000 rpm or drives any Hyundai cars on limit?

For what reasons do people buy ugly NHC?
Thats the reason why people buy hyundais in India because its very practical car, perfect VFM car.

Still theres a long way to go when we can call that people over here are "enthusiasts"

At least in INdia they were the first ones for a majority of things :
1. clear lamps
2. MPFI ( in therir respective segments)
3. CRDI ( in therir respective segments)
4. ABS ( in therir respective segments)
5. V6 ( in therir respective segments)

Upgrading models every year, damm Maruti took more than 10 years to upgrade the ZEn and Esteem.
Hadn't there been a Hyundai , they would have taken another 2 decades.

First to come out with DIwali special discounts, etc., which are really great, and work well for the company too.

They have taught auto makers , what is Marketing? and stilll FIAT dosent learn.

Trust me : I have never heard anyone in India saying :
" Why the hell did I buy a HYundai" ??

whereas even ppl buying the MErc have said so.

ps : Only the design copying in the 2005 Sonata is against them.

Seeing the sales numbers, its common sense that the non-enthusiastic and overwhelming majority love Hyundai. Butttttttttttttt a "majority" of those who hate Hyundai are enthusiasts.

And yes, if it helps - 7 out of 10 Ferraris never see the redline.

hyundai maybe hated by enthusiasts bucuase they are not as exciting as their rivals but ask any office goer family man, hyundai offers them everything at most affordable rates and are very loyal to india, the latest models are launched in india as soon as they are launched in the world.

While I agree with this statement you must also factor in that after Korea I believe India is their only biggest market. So if they don't launch their cars here then where else !
