the mpfi esteem will require wiring changing and ecu fitmmrnt etc which makes it a complicated and costlier preposition.. further modding as in upping engine power is also tricky, thats the prime reason i suggested for the non mpfi engine.

the parts for the baleno are very expensive.
the front axle costs a cool 16k.
had been to a maruti true value dealer to test drive one with 95000kms .it still felt good.
except for the ridiculous gearing and the skinny tires ,its an okay car.
maruti messed up with such a nice car.:(

Jaggu, have you installed a 1.3 in a Zen before?

Is this allowed ?

Last time, when i asked this at local garage they said its not legal and the car has to be re-registered with RTO. ??

Actually, i asked him can we put Esteem engine in ceilo ? He said yes you can do that but that's not allowed by RTO.

yes its not legal, but then who wud cum to know.
there are many who have done this.but i think esteem engine in a cielo wud not be beneficial as the weight wud be higher.

u r misguided.. RTO actually allows engine change, provided u pay up the fee (around 200 bucks) before the mod, after the mod take it back to RTO get it enetered in the document.. its illegal to drive without endorsing in the RC book..
this i quote coz of the standard 2000 engine replacement..

True. The RTO wants to make sure that the car - after engine transplant - is road-worthy, safe, driveable and PUC friendly.
