Land Rover has revealed the prices for the Defender 130 in India. The SUV is available in two variants: HSE and X, with prices starting at Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom).



The Defender 130 is the extended version of the Defender 110. While it has the same wheelbase, the overall length has gone up by 340 mm. This has helped liberate space for a third row of seats.

The exterior design and the cabin layout are also identical to the Defender 110. The SUV features single-pod LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, a panoramic sunroof, 20-inch alloy wheels and smoked tail lamps.



Inside, the Defender 130 comes equipped with an 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 4-zone automatic climate control, 14-way electrically adjustable front seats with heating, cooling and memory functions and a 360-degree camera.

In India, Land Rover is offering the Defender 130 with two engine options. These include the 3.0-litre petrol (P400) that makes 394 BHP and 550 Nm and a 3.0-litre diesel (D300) that put out 296 BHP and 600 Nm. Both engines are paired with mild-hybrid tech and a four-wheel drive system.

While the Defender 110 is spot on with its proportions, this one is definitely not! Looks like a school bus. Do they have one in yellow
This current craze of fitting 7 seats in a car that will rarely have more than 5 people sitting is not a positive trend

Still what a VFM package compared to recently unveiled Toyota LC300 twins. In terms of road presence now Defender scores a lot.

Sadly Defender is currently imported and don’t think there are any plans to build it here. Really think they should assemble it here and they will get better volumes than any other model they have!

The lack of rear axle steer is a sore miss in a car that’s nearly 18’ long. Besides, LR should have used the opportunity to spruce up the interior.

The inside has a tough nut charm and robust build quality, hardly meets the luxury feel of SUVs even a segment below.

It is well priced at 1.3 -1.4 Crore for what’s a spacious 8 seat, very capable, butch looking SUV with immense road presence and has no match at this price. It might not sell big numbers (relatively speaking, say beyond 100 units / year) because of the lack of luxurious feel on the inside.

It has a peculiar charm due to its elongated shape has the silhouette of a larger Mini Clubman! Much of the off road prowess might have taken a hit with this unwieldy size

I would love to have the 130 as a scale model but the 90 is still the charming one to own and drive I guess!

This reminds me of the Ford Flex, which I think was a great design. It was probably what you could call the last American station wagon.

Aahh, all these days I was thinking that the Harrier was based on the now discontinued Freelander, and that the Defender or Discovery platform would be too expensive for TML to use as a base for a sub 20 lac vehicle. Maybe the Defender and Freelander are sharing same platform, but I am not sure. Someone please confirm.
