I'd think around feb-march '05. Also it'd be more expensive than the outgoing model.

Hey,

I just spotted a Golden new shape Octavia today on the Bandra Worli sealink...looked very rich and contemporary. It wasnt a test car as it had the usual yellow CC numberplate.

Coming back to the topic, yes...I expect a launch within the next 6 - 8 months.

I remember that I read in Autocar or Overdrive Skoda will continue to sell current Ocatavia globally alongside new Octavia but at cheaper prices.

satish , that does not seem to be true, when a new model comes in , the old model has to go , its only at the the tiime of launch that the old model will be available at great discounts like the case was with the City Honda

By the way the new OCtavia is expected not before August 2005,
A bombay based dealer told me..

Also is the L& K value for money????

it is 15.5-----16 lak on road bombay
thats a waste of money..
I would spent a lac more and buy the Accord instead

All it has is power heated seats , sunroof , xenon lights, etc, cd changer, clmate control and cruise control
and L&K badge.

uses te same 1.9 TDI as taht of the Ambiente and te elegance.

my sentiments exactly....the 1.9TDi is a great engine but when i drove the octavias (both petrol and diesel) I found both engines a tad underpowered; the Tdi more so.

I expected that Skoda would be a bit more proactive given that since the Octavia was launched the Corolla, and to a lesser degree the Optra and Elantra have been eating into it's market and usually the case made (by Toyota, Chevy and Hyundai) is the underpowered powerplant of the Octvia.

God knows VW has not only very good petrol but also more powerful diesel engines that can be used in the Octavia.

August 05 for the new engine is a very long wait.

Dippy, AAP KE MUH ME GHEE-SHAKAR.

BTW that garage ref you gave me too turned out quite nice too. let me take this opportunity to publicly thank you.

BTW you mean aug-sept 04 or 05?

And maybe just maybe the Superb (at 24 lakhs+) is a another model not a variant of the octavia. I might be wrong for all i know so please excuse my knowledge (or lack thereof).

Nope, its got the standard 90bhp turbo-diesel. That apart, I think only a fool will shell out 15 lacs for an L&K. I mean, where in India are you going to put the cruise control at work? Or heated seats!! The sunroof is cool, but you can get one fitted from the showroom itself for, I would guess, 40 - 50 grand.

If you got 15 lacs to spend, pick up an Accord.
