Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

1972 FIAT 1100 D cross a lakh kms.
Gives a consistent fuel efficiency of 7.5- 8 kmpl in short drives around the area.
I would say that is a decent figure for a car this old.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Honda Jazz CVT with 195/60 R15 tyres- 8-9kmpl in the city. 12-14kmpl on highways. This car is majorly used in the city but it has made a few highway trips to neighbouring cities within 250 kms from Pune. At cruising speeds, the car is decent with the cruise control on but overtaking is quite a task especially with 2+ passengers on board. Maybe I should have just put in 185/60 R15s. My dad finds the dimensions manageable within the city hence keeping it otherwise an Altis AT is a better bet at the price of a used Jazz.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Damn, I miss petrol's!! How I wish I had a fast peppy petrol, I wouldnt mind paying the extra for fuel.

However, my addition to this thread would be in the form a 2+ ton SUV.. A Mitsubishi Montero 3.2 DiD with a 4M41 engine.

Considering the size and the ability, i'd say it's for decent FE. I get about 7-8 in city and 10-11 ish in the highway. If driven aggressively, 8-9 in the highway.

Of course, and hence I have one to post here.
BMW M340i gives around 4-6 : reasons are either slow driving or city traffic or spirited driving in open roads.
That said, a highway run normally return double digits.

I haven't seen Civic going below 8, so nothing to complain about there.

Drive a 2017 Octavia vRS. Typical office commute gets me 5-6 kmpl. On a bad day, I have seen it dip to 2.4 kmpl. Turbo engines don't like to be braked!

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Seems like most of the guzzlers are the automatics. My 1.8L NA corolla has till date not returned single digit FE as most of it is around 10ish in worst city traffic and on an average 12kmpl. I drive a manual and I feel this has a very big role to play here

However on highways, it is thirsty due to my cruising speeds of 110-120 and returns only 13-14kmpl.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Man, Looking at what you guys are calling guzzlers, I am suddenly feeling my Guzzler goes not have such a huge drinking problem after all.

Its a 2022 October Diesel Innova Crysta Automatic with the 2.4 liter engine.

City - around 12 to 13

Highway - Depends on how you drive her. Smooth roads with cruise control at 90-100 and you will be rewarded with 15 plus, otherwise its around 14 to 14.5

I am calling this a Guzzler why?

Because my other car is a 2008 Swift Diesel which has run 2 lakh 7 thousand km and gives about 21 on the highway and 17 plus in the city. The fuel needle hardly moves from F if I take it from Mumbai to Lonavala and back where as in the Innova, it goes down a couple of points on this trip.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Tiguan Allspace 2.0 : 7 kmpl in bumper to bumper traffic. Surprisingly the FE jumps upto above 10 kmpl if the traffic is less (like during non-peak hour on a outer ring road)
Hyundai i20 Ellite CVT : Between 5-7 kmpl in city traffic. Even on empty stretches, things don't change too much.

My numbers here and like some others also mentioned, for its size and weight it looks decent.

City Mileage: Avg ranges between 8.5 to 9.5 KMPL
Mixed Mileage: 11.5 to 12.5 KMPL
Highway Mileage: 12 to 13 KMPL (highest I have got till now is 13.5)

* all figures based on tankfull to tankfull method.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Hyundai Venue sx(o) 1L turbo dct: 7.8 km/L. it's worse than my Toyota Fortuner.
Reason: It is my wife's daily driver and is used for city duty, and the city in question is Bangalore, and especially the area is Bellandur-Sarjapur road. So worst of all possible combinations.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Original Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.4 Liter Automatic.

Good days (highways light foot) - 10-11 KMPL.
Bad days (Bangalore stuck in traffic) - 4.5-5.5 KMPL.
Average days (Mix of highway and city, say Bangalore Airport drop) - 8-9 KMPL.

Hey but who cares?! this car brings a big smile to your face when you drive it around any sorts of road or traffic.
