Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

Although no longer owns it (sold it couple of months ago), but my Mazda 3 used to give me the fuel economy of 7 litres per 100 kms which translates to almost 14.25 kms/litre on constant basis. It had 2.0 litre engine petrol engine which was producing almost 150 bhp. If we compare the fuel economy with the engine power, I believe it was very fuel efficient car. And I was driving it all over Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick (from open highways, snowy conditions, bumper to bumper traffic, mountains, broken roads).

Our 2018 Swift petrol automatic gives a maximum of 13km/l in the city. We never use it on highways because we own a crysta. Yeah, it isn’t the most fuel efficient but it fits the criteria.

In a thread full of Hondas and Hyryders, an unusual entry here. My 21 Thar AT, yeah the most aero”static” in the country delivers a good 18-20 kmpl on the highways.

A picture from its best run on the highway (Pune - Hyderabad)

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

Hello, this is my first post on the forum.

I filled up 35 Ltr. Of Diesel on 28th March.
Car is Fiesta Diesel 1.4 TDCi. Till Now I have covered 520 K.M. and there is still fuel left, as distance to empty meter shows 150 km, while when I filled up it was 60 km. So my city Efficiency would be over 15 km/L at least.

Car has been driven 60% city, with 1 day of Dehradun/Mussorie Roads with 3 people and AC on.

Can't stop wondering how brilliant the VAG diesels are! My Vento TDI DSG returns 20 KMPL in highways effortlessly. With a little care (read speeds >100 kmph) I've seen momentarily the MID reading 30 KMPL too. On cruise control @ 80 kmph, the car returns a steady 27 KMPL on highway.

If driven sedately at the consistent speed, the car returns insane fuel efficiency. That, combined with the good power and torque makes a gem of an engine!

Our 2022 Toyota Glanza G AMT Petrol is our garage’s fuel sipper:

City Mileage: In Winters with AC off- 17-18kmpl
In Summers with 100% AC-13-14kmpl

Highway Mileage: Took it once to Haridwar and it gave a mileage of 27kmpl with AC on.

My Creta E Diesel which is just 4 months old, shows average FE of ~20kmpl as per MID information. Used mostly for highway runs. Haven't tried tankfull to tankfull method.

Efficiencies of my two vehicles:

1. Pajero Sport 2013: 11-12 kmpl on highway

2. Nexon Diesel AMT 2019: consistent 25-28 kmpl on highway

Both when driven below 100 kmph

Tata Zest XT Revtron 2015 Petrol
130,000 kms up and still going strong, no engine work, still peppy, hardly need to use the sport mode.
All my driving with this car is practically city (barring one trip to Dharamshala, Jaipur and two to Agra)
City mileage is around 13.5 kms/L for short trips and 15 Kms/L on longer trips
Highway, north of 22-23kms/L (around 25-27 if memory serves right)
95% of my drives in City mode, rarely Sport, never used Eco mode.

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

The benefits of owning a diesel vehicle. I drive 2 fuel sippers -

Ford Figo S 1.5 TDCi - This is my daily driver + weekend fun car. It is stage 1+ remapped and returns 19 kmpl in the city It consistently gives me 21+ kmpl on the highways even with my not-so-sedate driving style. It is the efficiency + performance combination that makes it so hard to upgrade from this car

Returned 21.2 kmpl (22.5 kmpl on the MID) on a recent road trip in the hills to Chitkul with 3 people and luggage on board. Amazing figure if you consider the terrain.

Kia Seltos 1.5 D AT - Returns 15-16 kmpl in the city consistently post 20k kms. Earlier used to hover around 13-14 kmpl. Highway drives regularly see 18-19 kmpl tankful to tankful.

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

I'd always thought that bigger vehicles would suck at fuel efficiency, but was amazed how much more fuel efficient vehicles have become these days. My 2020 Škoda Octavia Estate has an emission of 128 g C02 per km, which is probably far lesser than small hatchbacks of yesteryear produced. Within the city, it delivers around 14 km/l, but on the motorway, where I drive a constant 110, it delivers upwards of 19 km/l. On state highways with a speed limit of 80, I've got 21 km/l.

Car: Škoda Octavia 2020 TSI 115
City FE: 14
Motorway (110 km/h): 19-20 km/l
State highway (80 km/h): 21 km/l

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

My MY 2019 Tata Hexa XT 4x2 MT, run 67000 Kms, regularly gives 20 Kmpl on highway drives @ 90-100 Kmph with AC switched ON. Mileage starts falling once i cross 100 Kmph.

In the city i get approx. 13-15 Kmpl at best.

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

2009 Alto, 56k kms done:
City (without AC) when I got it second hand: 8 to 9kmpl
It was in pretty bad shape to be fair.
Highway: Never did

Now after I worked on it,
City: 12 kmpl with AC 100%
16 kmpl without AC is the highest I have ever got.
Highway: Still not in highway worthy condition
