Maruti Suzuki is planning to expand its production capacity by 10 lakh units per year by setting up a new manufacturing facility. It will be the brand's fifth factory in India.

According to RC Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki, the company expects its export volumes to reach 7.5 lakh units by 2030. That's the present capacity of the Suzuki Gujarat plant. So, looking at the market size for the next 8 years, even if Maruti utilizes the 10 lakh unit capacity of the Kharkhoda plant, the company will still need to produce more vehicles to meet domestic and export demand.

Bhargava stated that the new plant will be expanded in a phased manner depending on the market demand. While the Kharkhoda plant is still under construction, work on the fifth plant will commence simultaneously.

That being said, Maruti is yet to finalize the location of its new manufacturing unit. The company hasn't confirmed the exact amount it plans to invest in the new facility either.
