Re: 2023 Skoda Kodiaq 4x4 launched at Rs 37.99 lakh

I have not paid close attention to recirculation mode however the temperature was set to 22C similar to my polo for comparison. I will take note of this.

Coming to extended warranty and SMP, I am considering to pick it up after a month of vehicle delivery. I will check with SA about this, as far as I recall, he/she mentioned that the payment will be made directly to Skoda.

I have few queries related to car
1. I got a confirmation that showroom folks will install the dashcam. They have not done a hard wired installation on Kodiaq however the service person did for slavia and kushaq.
Is there any risk of warranty void if hardwired?
In my current polo, there is no supply from 12V after ignition is turned off, Should I go ahead with the same approach in kodiaq.

2. Regarding fuel, I have been a customer of shell fuel since my motorbike days for petrol and then for polo diesel. Reading through the forum , there seems to be a special kind of petrol rating needed for kodiaq. what is the risk of filling normal or v-power from shell?

Re: 2023 Skoda Kodiaq 4x4 launched at Rs 37.99 lakh

I got VIN number from the dealer today.

Using the team bhp article to decode the VIN, I saw the following
1. Year of Manufacture - P - 2023
2. Month of Manufacture - C - March

https://www.team-bhp.com/advice/find...facture-vin#p8

I am curious to know whether this vehicle is BS6.2 compliant. Is there a way to decode this from VIN?

OTR for l&k without Standard Maintenance Package and Extended warranty is Rs 51.56l. The negotiation is only on insurance and any loyalty bonus, if applicable.

Re: 2023 Skoda Kodiaq 4x4 launched at Rs 37.99 lakh

Googled a bit, however unable to dig out the relevant information of BS6.2 from VIN.

Instead I found some of the info that may be helpful to others ontop of existing VIN checker for skoda.

source: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topi...-a-karoqs-vin/

1. The 4th character tells you the chassis type: J = left-hand drive FWD, K = right-hand drive FWD, L = left-hand drive 4x4 and M = right-hand drive 4x4.
2. The 5th character tells you the engine: E = 2.0 TSI 190PS, G = 1.6 TDI 115PS, J = 2.0 TDI 150PS, M = 2.0 TDI 190 PS, P = 1.0 TSI 115PS, R = 1.5 TSI 150PS.
3. The 9th character is a check digit to validate the VIN code. I crossed check this with TD VIN and also my allocated VIN, It matched well. Basically the code in 9th character should match the checksum of all the other characters. Follow this article for some quick math. https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Vehicl...s)/Check_digit

4. The 11th character in a Skoda VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) indicates the manufacturing plant where the vehicle was assembled. Skoda uses different codes for different manufacturing plants, so the exact meaning of the 11th character may vary depending on the specific code used. Here are some examples of Skoda VIN codes and their corresponding manufacturing plants:

A: Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic
C: Kvasiny, Czech Republic
E: Aurangabad, India
F: Ningbo, China
G: Solomonovo, Ukraine
Therefore, if the 11th character in a Skoda VIN is "A," it indicates that the vehicle was assembled in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic.

5. 7th and 8th character clubbed represents the model, In this case, it is NS - represents Kodiaq model

Go to stockyard and do a PDI.

Open a fuel lid cover and see the sticker.

It should say E20.

If not, then E10 sticker be pasted on it.

Attached image of Rapid TSI fuel lid cover reading E5 & E10.

The understanding is that BS6.2 compliant doesn't necessarily mean E20 fuel compatibility.
He may have the new BS6.2 Kodiaq that meets the new regs. but not necessarily be E20 compatible simultaneously. The manufacturer must explicitly declare their engines are E20 compatible, which to my knowledge neither Skoda nor VW have done yet for the 2.0TSI's.

Cars manufactured after 01 April 2023 have to be BS6.2 and E20 compliant.

Makes no sense spending so much money on a petrol car which is not E20 compliant today. You wouldn't want to face issues later with car.

Congratulations for your booking. Which dealer did you book with? I booked a couple of weeks back with TAFE and like you have been following up more than SA.

If I understand correctly, mandatory E20 compliancy is from 1 April 2025. Manufacturers are not under any compulsion to make their vehicles formally E20 compliant before that hard stop.

Albeit, most OEMs have taken the 6.2/RDE deadline to do the E20 changes too.

Seems to be some interpretation error or misunderstanding. As per ZigWheels article quoting from it

Quote:
The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has held a technology demonstration of engines compatible with ethanol-blended E20 fuel. As before, the deadline for making cars E20-ready and fully compliant stands at 2023 and 2025, respectively.
What does E20 Ready mean by 2023?

What does fully compliant by 2025 means?

Majority petrol cars are now E20 fuel ready leaving apart mystery with VW 2.0 TSi engine.

If anyone holding car for long term, go with E20 ready/complaint car since petrol bunks in select cities are selling E20 fuel and slowly normal petrol will go E12 > E15 > E20 by 01 April 2025 PAN India.

Re: 2023 Skoda Kodiaq 4x4 launched at Rs 37.99 lakh

source: https://www.niti.gov.in/expert-commi...ing-india-2025

Quoting from the source

The E-20 roadmap proposes the following milestones:

- Raise pan-India ethanol production capacity from the current 700 to 1500 crore litres
- Phased rollout of E10 fuel by April 2022
- Phased rollout of E20 from April 2023, its availability by April 2025
- Rollout of E20 material-compliant and E10 engine-tuned vehicles from April 2023
- Production of E20-tuned engine vehicles from April 2025
* E20- tuned engines from April 2025.
- Nationwide educational campaign
- Encourage use of water-sparing crops, such as maize, to produce ethanol
Promote technology for the production of ethanol from non-food feedstock.

I am newbie here, is there any mention of phasing out of any type fuel.
All I read is roll out.

May be things will get more expensive on the fuel in one way and on other side vehicles will get expensive as an upfront cost...

Trust our govt to make life miserable for tax-paying citizens. E20 fuel will be rolled out by 2023, but engines will only come by 2025. Ideally, engines should come first. Why would they let a company sell a non-E20 tuned engine in March 2025 or for that matter in 2023?

And if "E20 material-compliant and E10 engine-tuned" is good enough, then why move to "E20-tuned engine" in April 2025?

I so agree with what you have mentioned. Only problem is that the sportline trim doesn't come with the basics like a 360 degree camera, which I feel is a must in any car over 4 meters. Along with some more niceties are missing like the dynamic chassis control, TPMS and ventilated and heated seats. I strongly feel Skoda should have given these features in the car as well considering the price. L&K could have been their model for a more lux feel with beige leather seats and chrome all around.
