No, no. There is nothing wrong with your mileage.

Only that often times in this segment, the ANHC is perceived to have a huge mileage advantage over Linea TJet and Vento (Petrol) when selection criteria are discussed.

At least, I have been "advised" multiple times to stick with ANHC for my car selection because of mileage advantage (comparison generally based on ARAI figures). More so now with petrol prices slated to go through the roof.

However, the actual figures don't show this difference. Both give similar mileages to the ANHC.

SX4 does not; it is known to give single digit mileages in the city.

Anyway, I made my choice on the overall package than purely mileage, but it is still better to know actual figures before comparing, than ARAI.

But, you do you take optimum driving to a whole new level!

Lol there is research to suggest that a majority of people think that they are better than average drivers, better than average multi-taskers and have better than average sense of humor (wonder who those lowly souls are who create such a rubbish average).

I'm no different and perhaps a vast majority of t-bhpians fall in that bucket

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

1982 Yezdi -20 kmpl (Best - 30 kmpl)
2002 Palio GTX - 8 kmpl (Best - 12 kmpl)

May get 2+kmpl if I'm easy on the accelerator, but I don't own these to go easy on it

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Gentlemen,
In my 2005 Petrol Indigo I get only marginally above 9 KMPL in city (with AC) but in highway it is almost 14 KMPL. Is this difference normal?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Car : Toyota Etios V
City: Bangalore (Whitefield area, no B2B)
FE: 10.4 in city, 15 in highway (still in run-in period)
95% AC on
Disappointed, but hoping the numbers to go up after 2000km. Any idea what is the % improvement that I can expect in FE after the run-in period?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2007 Maruti Esteem: City > 14 Km/l, Highway> 16 Km/l with intermittent A/C
2008 Zen Estilo: City ~13 Km/l, Highway ~16 Km/l with intermittent A/C
2002 Indica V2: City 16 Km/l, Highway ? (been too long since it went on one) with intermittent A/C

@Upgrade: From what I have noted through the cars I've had is that the % improvement could be anywhere between 10-20%

Hope the respective owners can comment and clarify.
I get 12 km/l regularly in the city with a very short and tedious run through GGN cybercity ( 6 km)

My last highway trip on NH1 gave me an ASTOUNDING 20 kpl (Driving speed : Avg 90, Highest : 130)...but usually it hovers around 17 odd.

This is a considerable mileage advantage over all the other petrol sedans...in real world urban situations (read same commute), a colleague's T-jet is giving 9-10 kpl. Havent checked his highway figures
Cant comment on the Vento
My i10 Auto gives 9-10 kpl for the same commute
My old Palio 1.6 gave 8-9 (city) and 14 (highway)
Family i10 Manual gives 10-11 over a different stretch
Dzire Vdi gives 16 kpl for same commute

To summarize, go diesel if you want mileage, the straight H is the best of the rest !

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

1) 2005 Hyundai Santro Xing XP with more than 1,00,000 Kms on ODO.

City with 100% AC - 16 Kms, Highway with 100% AC -18 Kms

2) 2010 Mahindra Scorpio MHAWK VLX with 5000 Kms on ODO, due for 1st servicing.

City with 100% AC - ranging between 11 to 11.8 Kms and on Highway ranging between 13.4 to 13.8 Kms.

I am guessing after the first servicing the figures would improve a little.

That's exactly what I'm saying. My cousin's ANHC S MT and another cousin's V MT give around 10 - 12 with 100% AC in the city.

Though I have not heard a figure as high as 20, I have heard 16 - 18 on highways.
I'm assuming you're quoting with 100% AC(?)

But, these are the same figures Linea owners have posted on this forum. So, mileage is definitely not a deal breaker by comparison.

I've been going through this forum, Linea and (a few) HC ownership threads and nowhere do I see anything to the contrary.

The ARAI figures as astoundingly disparate though. I have read other forum members debunking ARAI figures. Looks like they have reason enough, .

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Filled in today at Shell petrol bunk on Whitefield Main Road. Mileage stands at: 13.05 km/ litre. Mine is a ANHC AT. I mostly drive along the ORR, with 50% AC, turning off engine at signals while waiting, use of engine braking and with a light foot on the gas pedal!

Maybe this is off topic for this thread but, how do you use engine braking on an AT car?
