the ghat roads were about 40 km/hr and the highway run about 75 km/hour, highway run was mostly a 5th gear drive on the nh5 with ac partly used.

did a tankful to tankful city/highway run again later the next week very carefully noted down the figures and ended up with 12.75 km/ltr (ac on throughout - during this period). 477.4 km and 37.43 ltrs) - would say the highway run was 80 percent 5th gear drive (about 350 km highway run and average speed about 80 km/hour)

my cousin has the older version (non crde and he reports his best of 10.22km/ltr in the city run with ac on throughout, btw he has logged close to 88000 kms on his odo.

a taxi fleet owner beside my home owns the same crde as mine for his personal use and states that he always get 12-13 km/ltr on the highways even with ac on throughout. (does vizag-hyderabad quite frequently and does it in 10 hrs which means his average is about 85). his claim is that if the speed is kept about 80-100 the mileage is excellent and drastically reduces if the speed is above 100, need to verify this though

other crde owners - curious to know if this is the normal efficiency with the
crde? would love to know

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Did a recent run bangalore to hyderabad in my 2001 matiz, its first ever long run. Got an unbelievable average of 25-26/l. Couldn't believe it so did a re-run hyderabad to bangalore and it returned the same figures. Gives around 15-18/l in the city depending on the traffic condition.

Used a Octy a lot over the year. Gives an average of around 13/l with 80% AC.
Did a lot of highway runs, mainly mumbai bangalore. Always got an average of 19-21/l cruising around 120-130Kmph.

And the lancer gives a 7-8kmpl in the city and 15-16kmpl in the highway at a steady 100kmph.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Santro 2008 - 50% ac usage

City Mumbai - Andheri - Bandra mainly.
Petrol.
City driving Peak hrs only - 10 - 72 inr/ltr = 7.2 inr/km
city driving non peak hrs - 12 - 72 inr/ltr = 6 inr/km
highway with 50% ac - 16km/ltr

After fitting Cng, petrol usage is only to warm up the engine from cold start, 2 km while starting (twice a day). monthly petrol expenditure is less than 500.

CNG.
City driving Peak hrs only - 17 - 31.5 inr/ltr = 1.85 inr/km
City driving non peak hrs - 19 - 31.5 inr/ltr = 1.65 inr/km

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Filled my Alto to the brim at Shell and set the trip meter to zero last Saturday (22/10) evening on the way home. Had to visit a few places in town at 7.00 AM next morning and was returning home by 9.00 AM. Saw the trip meter nudging 60, entered Shell pump on a whim and filled to the brim again at the same nozzle.

Mileage recorded was 20.81 KMPL!

Disclaimer: I was driving alone, there was not much traffic / signal hold-ups, AC was off on the way out and on while returning.

For my normal city usage I get an average of 14 - 16 KMPL only.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

^^ Should be the new Swift, because the older one did not have a ZDi.

Baleno FE update : 13kmpl for the last fill - full city run with a/c on always.

My usual FE for the above driving conditions is ~12kmpl. Since there was no change in driving nor anything changed in the car, the increase can only be attributed to correct fuel quantity dispensed by the new petrol-pump I tried for the last fill (the BPCL outlet, few buildings after the erstwhile Woodlands drive-in, on the same side of the road).

That a juicy figure for engine of such size, my fuel efficiency (9.5 kmpl) has taken a hit because of the daily short run (3.5 kms between office and home).

On the other hand, I have seen highway mileage of 19kmpl on the chennai-blore highways at speeds of 80km/hr..
