Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Regarding the actual FE of my i10, I have posted on another thread a detailed chart of 25-odd FE tests done so far. Details of my 25 FE tests are at:

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My Maruti Alto 800 cc gives me about 16. Only had it 2 or 3K.
My HH Achiever gives me about 40 in normal riding and 30 in highway riding.
My Esteem gives me about 13 or so.
My Omni gives me 12 or so now. Used to be close to 15 when new but that is slowly going down with time and more heavy estate use

SAFARI TCIC 99 Model - Gives me 9 kmpl when driven in a RAYP (Ride as you please) manner. Keeping it at 2,000 rpm gives me 11kmpl in the City and 17kmpl on the highway, but it's nerve-racking sitting at 2,000rpm on an Expressway where the SAFARI does 70-80kmph and almost every car overtakes you with them gleefully jumping "Yeah, I beat a SAFARI". Now I've settled down to a rhythm, do 2,000rpm in First Gear, then 2,500 in Second, 2,000 in Third and Fourth and finally 2,500 in Fifth. Now I get 10kmpl with AC in the City and 15kmpl with AC on the Highway, more importantly, my cruising speed on the Expressway is 90-100 now, pushing my average speed from 40kmph to 50kmph overall on long trips

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Got 14.9 on last tankful on Fusion 1.4 TDCI. Odo was 535km and it took in 36L of diesel.
I was getting 13.8 consistently before that and it was a pleasant surprise.
But there is something which is confusing me is the tank size. the manual doesn't specify it.
In the last tankful, my odo was showing 535 with DTE of 35. So if i take FE of 15, then maybe 2 litres and say another 2 more would have been there as my friend has frequently driven his fiesta beyond 0 DTE. So tank size of 40L.
However, after tankful, DTE everytime shows around 660 which at 14.9 is around 44L.
But as i keep on driving, the odo+DTE drops to around 570-580!!!!!!!
So the riddle is what is the tank size?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I recently got a surprise (fortunately a pleasant one). I got 15 kmpl from my 2006 Accent 1.5P on my last highway run (BLR-DVG-Hampi-DVG-BLR).Mostly involved highway cruising at 100-110 km/h, with in-city runs in the destinations.

The city FE has also improved to around 12. Not sure how, but I sure ain't complaining.

^^^Did you happen to change the fuel-station ? I have noticed a good increase in FE after trying out a different station. Also what was your erstwhile city/highway FE ?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Civic 2006 AT - Did a long drive - 300km highway - 70km Ghat - 100KM City -

Average 11.5 KPL.

Normally I drive only within city - mostly to office and back - 13km per day. Give about 8.5 KPL.

AC on full time.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Did a Bangalore-Mysore-Bangalore trip this weekend, updating the FE of my car:

Model: i10 irde1
Kms: 15k

The car returned mileage of 19 kmpl with 100% AC.

FE measured using full tank method (using auto cut off at Shell outlet).

Car was driven sedately between 60-80 kmph.

For those who are not familiar with Bangalore-Mysore highway, this is not a typical non-stop expressway. There are lots of speed breakers on this route (roughly 1 speed breaker every km) where the car needs to be downshifted to 2nd gear and then work all the way upto 5th.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Have been tracking my Elantra crdi for a while now. Consistently managed 13-14 kmpl during summer and the past 8-10 tanks during winter have averaged 15-16 kmpl. This is for city driving though includes a decent stretch of the expressway between Delhi-Gurgaon. Have been driving sanely though, without too much revving.

I used to get about 10-11 in-city (more 10 than 11), 12-13 on the highway. I normally use Shell, but had to use others on the trip since Shell is difficult to find outside the big cities.

I've recently swapped the steel rims with alloys, but then that won't make such a difference, would it?
