Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My Linea 2012 (Petrol) is giving me between approx 11.62 Kmpl (100% City driving, 100% AC)

Typical Commute is 28 Km per day, all in Gurgaon Rush Hour (Office) Traffic - with the Avg Speed being a lousy 24 Kmph

Approx 4500 Kms Done, 5 months just completed (1st service due shortly).

Longest Trip was from Gurgaon to Ghaziabad and Back - Returned an impressive FE of 13.33 Kmpl with 100% AC despite most of the route not being a Highway!!

@ srikanthns

woh! nice figures there I'm shifting to Trivandrum! 26kmpl in city driving conditions, you really must be in a traffic free zone ...

or maybe it's just me with no diesel experience to speak off ... if your calculations are correct, many congratulations. Look after the engine.

Mate, you got it wrong. 26 liters of diesel was consumed. Efficiency is 16.78Km/L.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Well since I bought the Vista, had been getting consistent 14.8-15 km/l. However since Motomaverick mentioned that he has started to get close to 16 on his Manza, I was like, why can't my Vista do the same.

And there I was. Changed my driving style the very moment. Earlier, I used to rev to 2k rpm when shifting from gear 1-2 and 2-3. What I now did was, while shifting from 1-2, revved only till 1500 and from 2-3 under 1500. This was done consciously during the entire timeframe of the mileage check.

With this, I was able to upshift to Overdrive at speeds of 50 kmph which sometimes are easy in Hyderabad. This ensured I never touched 2k rpm during this period.

So the quintessential question: what was the mileage then?

Well the mileage returned was 15.93/lt, clearly a kilometer more than what I used to get earlier. Well that's 36 kilometers more in a tankful, which is like an additional day of fuel for my office trip.

What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?-img_1773.jpg

VOLKSWAGEN VENTO TDI

This is what the average showed (21.0) on the MFD on a Mangalore to Bangalore trip, driving with a light foot and not exceeding speeds of over 100 kmph.
On a 'full tank' to 'full tank' basis, have always managed to squeeze out around 17 kmpl, 40% town and 60%.
Still smiling, since none of my previous cars (all petrol) gave me more than 14 kmpl.
- Wagon R - 14 kmpl
- Aveo 1.6 - 12 kmpl
- Hyundai I 10 Auto - 10 kmpl

I repeat my question? Is this FE ok? I have doubt whether it is on lower side.
Gurus, please comment.

I'm not a Guru, but 16+ kmpl from the 1.3 MJD is fine in the city.
We get around 14/19 kmpl city/highway from our Linea.

100% city driving with the A/C on 95% and getting almost 17 kmpl is pretty good FE.
Srikanth, your Ritz VDI is in 'good health''

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

From last tankful : 12.85 KMPL
Method of calculating : Car's on-board computer with Trip meter reset to 0 at the fuel station.
Car : Fiat Linea T-Jet+
Driving :70% Highway 30% City
AC usage - 60% of total travel time

FE during previous tankful to this : 11.65 KMPL (Post #3329)

I have one nice pic to show all of you.
I believe many of us don't like the odd decimal figures for fuel and wish to see round figure at some point of time in our life. So there you are. In Panaji Goa, we have Petrol price at Rs 57.00 per litre.
Yes, you read it right. Pic attached as proof.

I agree that the petrol prices are too good to be true in Goa, but this pic does not prove that the price 57.00 is of petrol. If you had posted a pic of the actual bill or paper slip, then it would have been a real proof. And, if you observe the pic carefully, at the bottom of the pic, I see 'Diesel' caption.
