Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I own a Ford Fusion Petrol 2006 model. As of yesterday, the mileage i got in the city was 10.2kmpl
Last year i drove the Bangalore - Madurai stretch and the vehicle gave me 18kmpl. I measured it with point to point drive with a full tank and refueling when i reached the end point. I had changed the tyres after 5 years and when on to pick up Bridgestone Turanza. The average speed was 90kmph with top speed of 150 for a long stretch of 1 hour.The load was rougly 200kg including passenger and luggage
Last week i drove the Bangalore - Chennai stretch and the vehicle gave me 15kmpl. I had changed my clutch assembly, induction coil, connector kit and spark plugs before the drive. My top speed was 150kmph for 2 hours and average of 100kmph. The load was roughly 300 kgs including passenger and luggage

I was touching close to 3500rpm in both these cases.
Cheers

Has anyone else driven with a Santro Xing at these speeds for extended periods of time (3-4 hours atleast)? If so, what fuel efficiency have you obtained in this situation?
Mine is a stock Santro Zing ERLX i did 145 Kph + on Mumbai - Pune Express Highway after the second toll plaza for a minute or two then came back to 120 Kph, a thing to notice was when i was doing 140 kph a Santro zoomed pass me. I wonder what speed that person was driving ?

I am sure though it was modded one.

I did not calculate FE then in 2009. Now a days i drive between 80-100 Kph

Last time i did tankful method in May 2012 i got 495 kms in 31.xx liters of petrol with 100% Ac of which 25-30 Kms was of Ghat section and 40 -50 Kms of pathetic road wherein i was driving note more 30 kph.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I consistently get 15-16 kmpl out of my Ritz Vxi, this includes 80% highway + 20% city driving and the AC mostly turned on all the time.
In my previous job my traveling during the workdays used to be mostly in the city and the FE was badly hit! around 12 kmpl.

The best so far has been when i visited Goa some couple of years back, almost 17.7 kmpl!

With my usage.
Last week i did 500kms
and Average fuel consumption over distance was 22.1Kmpl according to MID,so should be around 21 at least in real life.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Ran on Petrol in the last week, due to CNG tap valve problem, I bet there was a leak, so did not refuel with CNG (got it rectified yesterday). I guess my mileage was around 12 kmpl... but, the cost hardly matters, because the performance was much better... & felt good to have spent good money on fuel after long time .

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I had been to Pune over the last weekend with ANHC. 3 people, AC on, some luggage and at least half a tank of petrol. A total of 350.9 km and the mileage was 15.2 kmpl. The traffic was sickening from Hinjewadi to Hadapsar. The drive was at max possible speed, with lots of trucks to overtake on Friday night and too many cars on Monday afternoon (I had not seen so many cars on Expressway in over 10 years).

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10:

with 3 people with AC on 100% in heavy city traffic about 11.5 Km /litre
with 1 person with AC on 80% in light to moderate city traffic about 14 Km/litre

I am concerned that there has been a fall off in FE in the Alto K10 after the last service (10K Km) at a MASS. The ECU might have been reset and then learnt a wrong lesson. Nonetheless, I changed the oil API SJ 5W30 from Idemitsu and oil filter again as I weren't happy with the dip stick picture (dirty dark oil AFTER an oil change? They say they used MGA Castrol 5W30 but the engine didn't sound smooth) - the oil filter was jammed and difficult to remove. Also changed the air filter. Engine sounds great now and it isn't wheezing - yes, changed all spark plugs. All changes at 11.2K Km. Still can't get to 12Km/litre in a car that never went below 13km/Litre. Puzzled.

GM Chevrolet Aveo 1.4:

with 3 people with AC on 100% in moderate to heavy city traffic about 10Km/litre
with 3 people with AC on 100% in light highway traffic about 15Km/litre.
Happy but I did reset the ECU and went through the idle sequence learnt elsewhere on this forum - not sure that will do anything - next few tankfulls will tell.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Zen - '99Carb Model done ~98K Kms (all w/o AC, 2 people with 2 bags of luggage)
Blore<->Ooty trip:
14kpl: Blore->Gundlupet - 70-90kph - Shell Petrol
13kpl: Gundlupet->Ooty (drove abt 130kms, also in and around ooty- also to emerald dam, etc) - 20-50kph with lots of ghat section - HP Petrol
19kpl: Ooty -> Blore - 70-100kph - BP Petrol

Else I get about 12kpl in Blore City Drives mostly on ORR non-office hours with 4 people on Shell Petrol.

These are excellent figures on the City. I get similar numbers on Ikon Tdci. Also, if i drive at <120Kmph then Ikon gives around 21.
Still For city vtec power it is cool !!

Thanks MKP. It is very irresistible to not hear the vtec growl especially when you have an expressway begging you to free the demon. Infact at one point when I was obsessed to check the max fuel efficiency my wife almost decided to walk to Pune . Thats when I floored her to achieve 160.

Ikon giving you 21...now thats an achievement

It is Ikon Diesel ..so i guess it is not bad.. It used to give 15-16 driving in City.
Once i managed to squeeze out 23kmpl.( No A/C, Speed 100-110). I'm not sure was it calculation mistake or otherwise..

I find it very difficult to keep it below 140kmph on some straight stretches when there is no cars in vicinity . Otherwise < 120kmph always on expressway.

After Frantosa's accident I'm very very conscious on the expressway

Cheers
