Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Getz GVS Prime - ac on 60% i think:
1. 50915kms (Base reading)
2. B1 + 472kms - 37.36lts --> 12.13kmpl
3. B2 + 502kms -38.91lts --> 13.24kmpl
4. B3 + 482kms - 37.92lts --> 12.58kms

So mean avg over 1456kms looks to be 12.75kmpl. Which i guess isn't bad for a 5yr old car that wasn't known for being really very efficient.

Need to see how it works out in summer with the temperatures already hitting 38deg in Pune.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My Nissan Micra has been giving me FE in the range of 20-21 kmpl regularly since i bought it about 6 months ago.

I fill normal diesel and 98% of my driving is in city only. The in-board computer though currently shows 22.3 kmpl avg.

I believe i can be pretty happy with this figure, especially considering Delhi traffic

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I am getting about 14KMPL in my Alto STD in city and 18KMPL in highways.
It's a 2005 model and driven for about 65000km till today.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My Santro Xing is used to ferry my pregnant wife these days, & it is my father & the driver who take her to & bring back from office.

As per my father's analysis the car's city mileage is 20-22 kmpkg on CNG with intermittent AC usage. I would discount this to something around 18-20 kmpkg, which is not bad for 75K kms & 9 years old cars as far as I believe.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My polo diesel is 1 yr old and covered 17500Kms. 60% Highway and 40% city with 100% AC ON !

Avg FE - 18.6 Kmpl
Least FE - 17.8 kmpl
Max FE - 22.5 Kmpl

These figures are pretty much consistent before and after 1st service

My friend's new Honda Brio V (MT) which has covered 1400 kms in its first two weeks is giving an average of 20kmpl on 75% highway run during his office commute

Hi,

Thanks for the motivation.

Took the car out for a spin on Sunday. Mostly did EM Byepass, Rajarhat, VIP Road, Dumdum Road, BT Road, Nivedita Setu, Dankuni and back by the same route. These are less congested roads of Kolkata, where you can drive in 5th gear for significant distances.

FE achieved (30% AC) on the trip: 19-20 kmpl (estimate) with my friend driving 20 kms on way back (not as smooth a driver as myself).

I have "adjusted" my driving style under the guidance of a friend (he runs a travel service - owns & drives various kinds of cars). His one-liner was "the engine should run free, should not lug, else, there is strain on the engine, reducing FE & engine life". Practiced what he said: 1-2 @ 10kmph, 2-3 @ 25kmph, 3-4 @ 40kmph, 4-5 @ 60kph another way, change gears @ 2000rpm.

FE now (from 2500 kms to 2800 kms) is hovering around 16-17 kmpl in city traffic (excluding yesterday's experimental run).

Regards,
Saurav

That is a good average for the car. I get 11 to 12 kmpl in my Getz 1.3 irrespective of how I drive. I think the fuel efficiency has come down nowadays because of a weak clutch. I need to get it rectified soon.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Did a return trip from Navi Mumbai to my native place along with some city running in my Six and half years old Santro Xing

- Did a full tank at cut off prior to the trip
- Distance covered 364.7 kms (312.2 kms Highway and 52.5 kms City)
- Highway included 3 Ghats while going and 3 ghats while coming back
- City included number of short distances of 1 - 2 kms for grocery
- AC on 95 % of the time
- Four people on board with luggage on highway trip both ways
- Tank full done at cut off, it consumed 24.19 liters of petrol
- Average fuel efficiency of 15.07 kms per liter

I was able to achieve the aforesaid figure with light foot, no sudden braking, speed maintained between 80-100 on highway.

Hi @driving_smartly, that was surely not smart driving. IMO you could have easily got this figure without light & cautious driving, unless your tyres are in bad shape. I have managed better figures (17+ kmpl) with my 9+ years old (same) car loaded to the brim & 100% AC on highway trips.

Even if you have ghats (mountain roads), you can use the downhill drive to save fuel like most drivers in hill do.

Yes i agree.
The tyres are Michellin XM1 and are in good shape. I had maintained air pressure at 30 psi both front and rear prior to the trip. All the distance was covered within 3 days. when i checked for air pressure today morning it was 27 and 28 in front and rear 28 and 29 at rear. Do you suggest checking tyres for some air leakage or its normal in summers ?

The thing that might have ruined FE was city driving which included a lots of short distances of 1 -2 kms with start stop traffic.

I am sure the only highway drive the FE would have been better.

Do you suggest checking any specific thing that can contribute to better FE ?

I believe the city driving was not a major factor, nor the tyre pressure was. IMO the following thread should be of use to you in getting better economy:

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/owning...fficiency.html

I used to get 19+ kmpl easily on plane highway runs before conversion to CNG, &, even after CNG conversion (open loop kit, where the spark plug gap is widened to aid gas flow) the highway (state highways included) mileage is still around 17+ kmpl & 30 kmpkg easily.
