Skoda Yeti. 100 percent AC, with 80 % bumper to bumper traffic and 20%Highway driving. Getting 16km/ltr.
It's a bliss.

Honda Amaze Diesel VX , done 8500 kms since May 2013. Just completed 3rd service.

City FE with 50% AC on ( I don't need AC on my return trips from work as I usually do late nights ) has always been around 21kpl. Part of this is also due to the fact that I take the Elevated Toll Road ( about 60% of my daily commute ). BTW I never exceed 60-70 kph.

Highway drives have been 750kms total to and back from mangalore. It's always been always been with AC on and FE is usually around 22-23 kpl with speeds around 100 kph. But last week , we drove to Tirupati keeping a limit of 80 kph. As we left early morning , it was with AC off for almost 80% of the drive The MID showed 27kpl ! And this included 14 kms of uphill ghats. The return journey was also with a limit of 80kph but with AC on. Overall we got around 24.xx kpl.

The worst FE I have seen till now over a tankful was when we filled Shell Diesel just out of the showroom. I think it was 18.xx kpl ( not sure ) in city with AC on

2009 Toyota Camry W2 AT.
Pretty much regular Bangalore traffic + the occasional spirited driving.
With 0% AC, FE is 6-7 kmpl
With 100% AC, FE drops to between 4.5-5.5 kmpl.
Absolutely terrible terrible economy. Even when tested driving slowest, keeping the rpm below 2k, maximum efficiency attained is only around 6.5.
Petrol + automatic + heavy car + traffic is probably the worst combination

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2012 Nissan Micra XV Primo.
Use it for occasional city driving and runabouts in the suburbs of Hyderabad. It has automatic climate control which is on 100% of the time and set at 22-24 degrees. I have done only around 3k km so far, so it's sparingly used. I have averaged 13-13.7 km/lt so far.

Well; you've got a 2400cc engine. I don't think the economy is bad at all. Yes; the auto box does rob power.

Who ever gave you the idea on driving slow to attain the best fuel economy? This is one way to ruin it for sure.

To get the best economy, you need to drive closest to the rpm where peak torque is generated and not deviate too much from it. For a 2400cc block, I am guessing you need to set cruise control at something like 120Kmph which should see the engine spinning at around 2500rpm. This is the point where you might get the best economy. Not much you can do in bumper to bumper conditions.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Guys, i have added a fuel consumption of my drive from Trichy to bangalore.

On my return from bangalore, i refuelled and has posted the FE pics untill my return home. My whole return journey was without AC and driving at 80kms speed average untill Karur after which i was cruising at 100 kms.

Kindly note that i used a lot of neutral play in the down slopes while travelling from hosur to salem resulting in very high FE. Duirng the return trip of about 300 kms the average FE was 26kmpl when i reached home.

My car: Verna Fluidic 1.6 SX.

Man, that's really dangerous to coast in neutral on down slopes. Please use the engine braking rather the brakes on down slopes. It gives you better control of the car. What you save on fuel, you will probably lose out on replacing the brakes which will wear out prematurely.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Ford Ecosport AT 1.5 P done 2200 kms so far:

Scenario - 620 km round trip, with mixed driving (Approx 250 km of very slow, pot-holed sections & climbing mountains, 50 km of driving through traffic, remaining cruising on highways) and 4 pax on board. Auto climate Control set at 21/22 Celsius all the time. Uphill driving on Manual Gear Selection on Sport Mode.

Top Speed achieved = 110 kmph (Speed chime set at 110)
Average speed throughout the trip = 47 kmph.
Combined FE as per MID = 13 kmpl.

Mate, on that stretch (Hosur to Salem) you need NOT shift to neutral at all. The car will still give you almost the same FE. I drive that road once every other week. My FE on that stretch almost always is between 30-32. I NEVER shift to neutral; speed range 120-160 (depends on the stretch of road).

One needs to accelarate and brake wisely and the traffic should be thin.

My drive is THE 1.6 Fluidic verna
Model - 2011
ODO - Almost 39K

Buddy, thats great. But going above 100 affects FE greatly. I stayed between 80-90 mostly since i am running in my car. I never applied brake in neutral, when i had to brake i shift to 5/6th gear and then brake. You must be lucky to get above 30 in FE cruising above 120.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Beat Diesel
Year 2012
Wheels 185/65 R14 as compared to stock 165.
Air pressure of 34 all round.
wider Alloys 6J as compared to narrow stock 4.5J Rims.

Bangalore City Peak traffic driving Solo
Mostly 1-2nd 60 pc of the Time.
3/4/5 for just short bursts.
A/C always on in Position 1.
FE- Full tank to full tank 15.1 Kpl constantly . tested over 17500 kms.

Highways
2-3 people .
A/C at 1.
Constant 110-120 kph . FE of 21 kpl.
This is with spirited Shifts .

If driven With FE in mind and at 80-100 kph , then 24 kpl . But the 3 Cylinder vibe at 100.. The sweet vibes that is irritating at this speed .
smoothens out at 110+.

Hope this helps :-)

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My daily use vehicle is a VW Polo 1.2Tdi.
I get about 17 to 18 in city at this time of the year but it drops down to about 15 in Summer. Best in city efficiency till date 18.5 kmpl.
On Highways with speeds about 100 kph I receive 20 to 21, best till date has been 23 on a Pune Kolhapur return trip with speeds below 100.
I just sold my Innova which had close to 3 lakh km on the odo, she used to return about 10 kmpl in city and 13-14 kmpl on the highways.
