| ![]() Did a Chennai-Bangalore-Chennai trip 2 weeks back in my 2012 Petrol Swift. Was doing 80-100 KMPH most of the time. Average FE shown in MID: 21.6KMPL Average FE calculated as (Total KM covered after filling fuel + Distance To Empty - 50) / (total fuel filled): 20KMPL. (Non-standard calculation; I usually fill fuel when DTE is 50KM.) |

| ![]() A pleasant surprise ![]() Have been doing a lot of ORR runs in Bangalore off late and the Fuel efficiency has jumped from 12 to 15.5 on a tank full to tank full basis. Dont know if it is the Shell petrol doing the trick or more relaxed driving. Earlier i used to fill from an Indian Oil Fuel bunk. Also to add, The car has just turned 20k kms on the ODO and is driving more free. Is it a trait with the K Series engine that the efficiency increases after 20000 kms on the odo.?? Car : Ritz VXI Genus Petrol |

| ![]() I used to get 11.5-14 in chennai (~3-4km runs, 1st/2nd gear runs mostly, lots and lots of idling with AC on). The highway run to Madurati returned 20.1 and 18, in two segments (4 lane highway / 2 lane highway with 4 adults + 2 kids). Delhi used to be 17-18 most of the time. |

| ![]() Wagon R Lxi (K10) I have recently purchased a Wagon R Lxi for my wife's office commute. Beautiful little car. The car has been driven for 600 odd kms so far, all inside Delhi. The car is driven mainly in Central Delhi (around Chanakyapuri). Have measured the fuel efficiency twice so far. Tankful to tankful auto stop method. AC on 100% of the time. Got average of 13 and 13.10 respectively on the two occassions. Pretty happy with the figures. |

| ![]() The timing was captured from the MID. During the return journey the car was idling for around 20mins and more traffic at tolls. But still not a big difference. 80-100 always gives better FE as well and time wise also its very reasonable. Last edited by arun_josie : 21st August 2014 at 08:55. |

I do Bangalore - Chennai - Bangalore often in business. I have noticed 1. The fuel economy is better when you travel towards chennai. 2. It is faster on the same route. It's possible that you are climbing down around 3000 feet over 350 Kms so probably more inclines hence the better fuel economy and time. Getting out of chennai is also a nightmare till you pass the first toll and there is decent traffic upto to Kanchipuram. I always get around 2- 3 Km/l more while travelling to chennai in both my Punto and Elantra. Sent from my iPhone using Team-BHP | |

| ![]() Toyota Liva GD SP Done ~18K kms in 11 months. 80% within Bangalore city. AC always switched on. Traffic conditions were mostly moderate to bad. In City: Worst fuel efficiency so far: 14kmpl (this was before the 10K service) Best fuel efficiency so far: 17.8kmpl Average fuel efficiency in the last 5K km: ~17kmpl On the highways: Worst fuel efficiency so far: 16.7 kmpl ![]() Best fuel efficiency so far : ~20kmpl Average fuel efficiency in the last 2K km on the highways: ~19kmpl Since this car is euqipped with the latest fuel gauge gadgetry, all the above are based on tank-to-tank fill-ups; mostly from the same bunk. Btw, anyone here with the figures for the U2 CRDi on i20? Thanks in advance. Last edited by vinjosep : 21st August 2014 at 09:14. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Today morning did the usual Rs.2000 worth of petrol tankup. While the downward revision of petrol prices meant that for the same amount, I got an extra litre compared to the last fill a month ago, what was disheartening was to see the car's FE also going southwards for the last few fills. What used to be a steady ~14kmpl FE went down to 13kmpl in the previous fill and was now a bare 12kmpl in the last fill. ![]() Either the petrol-bunks in OMR are cheating on quantity or something with the car. Hopefully it is the former - for now am trying different bunks in the neighborhood. Having moved to the suburbs, it is no longer an option for me to trudge 20kms in city traffic every month to fill up at my trusted Cathedral Road BPCL bunk. P.S. Car in question is a Baleno 2005. |

| ![]() Since moving back to India about 18 months ago, my Tata Vista diesel ZX provided approx 21 kmpl over 19,000 kms. Most of it was sedate driving on highways with few bottlenecks. I would estimate that 80% of my driving was expressways and the remaining 20% was in the city. AC was used less than 20% of the time. I recently upgraded to a Volkswagen Jetta petrol 1.6 and in the past 6 weeks it has provided around 14-16 kmpl with very sedate driving and very limited ac use. |
